    Questions about Post Discharge Reporting

Hihi! I have a few questions about my report that I'm hoping you guys can either relate to or shed some advice my way...

I read another thread about someone saying something about discharged accounts still being reported every month and reaging the info and it made me think... so, I'm looking at my trans union report as of today and I have some questions...

I see one account for example that looks like this:

    CITI RPL
    Remarks:
    [TransUnion] Canceled by credit grantor
    [Experian]
    [Equifax]

    TransUnion Experian Equifax
    Past Due: $0
    High Balance: $0
    Terms:
    Limit: $400
    Payment:
    Opened: 05/06/2005
    Reported: 08/21/2010
    Responsibility: Individual

    Late Payments (last 7 years):
    TransUnion Experian Equifax
    days late: 0
    days late: 0
    days late: 0

So, the account is closed with a zero balance... why are they still reporting? If you notice it has a reported date of 8/21/2010. And on the little aging window that has all the history it says "OK" for like the last six months and prior. Does this affect the credit score? Are closed accounts supposed to have current report dates?

And a second account question. I have an entry on my report for Kay Jewelers... I pissed them off a lot in my bankruptcy and BK'd some jewelry that was not very long purchased before my filing date. Everything went fine in the BK and they never filed any adverse actions... however, they don't like me on my credit report! It looks like this:

KAY JEWELERS More about this account|Dispute
    Account No.: 306730****
    Condition: Derogatory
    Balance:
    Type: Charge account
    Pay Status:

    More about KAY JEWELERS
    Remarks:
    [TransUnion] Chapter 7 bankruptcy
    [Experian]
    [Equifax]

    TransUnion Experian Equifax
    Past Due:
    High Balance: $2624
    Terms:
    Limit: $2704
    Payment: $140
    Opened: 03/31/2003
    Reported: 08/20/2010
    Responsibility: Individual

So, again it says they are still reporting even though the account was closed and discharged last year in September. Are they supposed to be reporting like this? Notice on the first part, it says condition: derrogatory .... none of my other bankruptcied accounts say "derrogatory". Is this account disputable?

Any advice on these two items would be most helpful.

I am wondering the same thing. I am in the process in disuputing these dates and was looking for some additional information on reporting dates too! Hopefully someone on here has an answer! Good luck!

Thanks... I wish there was some company or literature that said "this is how your report should look" ... or like some people you could send your report to and analyse it and say hmmm... you need to fix x, y and z.

Perhaps there is something like this but I'm not aware of it...and would it be legit?

I'm also having a hard time getting an answer to this:
I have student loans that are defered. They have capitalized interest. So, like the original balance or "credit limit/high balance" on my report says for example 20,000 but because its deferred and has some interest compounded on it it says the balance is 25,000. So, by simple math, I'm over my credit limit on this loan. So, it makes my ratios all wierd. But I'm wondering if that affects my score? And can I have it resolved? Would I be able to dispute it and tell them to change the balances to match each other?

        Amy26,

I am almost positive that the student loan issue you asked about is common and does not affect your total score. Do you have a phrase that says this or something similar: "paid as agreed?" That's what seems to be the most important thing for your total credit score.

With your question about the service, I am sending you a PM about that.
