Macy's Visa changing to Macy's AmEx; will my account be closed?

I have a Macy's Visa card that I've had for about five years that survived my CH7 BK. I have been using it for rebuilding purposes since my discharge a year ago and, if/when I use it, I pay it off in full every month. Sometime within the last year my limit was doubled and, also, my card expired and I was issued a new one.

Over the weekend, I got a letter letting me know that my Macy's Visa will now be a Macy's AmEx card. Not cool. I suspect that AmEx will close my account once they discover the BK. I didn't BK AmEx, but I was an authorized user on my exH's account, who also filed BK.

I've read things in the past that said that AmEx is very BK unfriendly. I am pretty much guaranteed to lose this credit card, aren't I?

^Yes, I searched his previous posts and saw that. I also saw, however, that he doesn't have an AmEx account in his own name, he is only an authorized user on someone else's account and that isn't the same.

Note - nothing is guaranteed about any zero balance charge card surviving a bankruptcy filing. You can receive a notice soon or a few years from now indicating they have closed the card. All you can do is see what happens and the odds are good it will survive the change. But realize that with a BK on your records, they can close that account at any time if they choose to. We had a card survive our filing in 2002. It was closed in the fall of 2007 (after limit increases, etc.) due to "a BK on my credit reports." There is no guarantee...just keep paying everything on time and reestablishing your credit and things improve as time marches on...

that's exactly what happened to us. we had plenty of cards with zero balances...prior to filing we closed at few....and let a few stay on. our bk atty wanted to list even the closed ones...i told him TAKE THEM off now..he did since i was hoping one or two would get through so we could rebuild our credit....ONLY because we have a "older" car and i was concerned if we needed a new one in the next few years i wanted to get started to rebuild our credit.

i called each of those "open" cards after we were discharged and the receipt of the no asset order... and guess what......ALL CLOSED...why???...LACK of using them!! LOL!!! so much for the "best layed plans"....not ALL work out the way you want them to.

The network the card is on is changing, it's still issued by DSNB (a division of Citi). It's not being issued by Amex, so Amex's blacklist doesn't come into the equation.
