    My next step...

I reached a point where my wife and I decided to file. I had tons of medical bills after an emergency liver transplant. 2.25million dollars worth actually. Our credit scores had actually dipped a tad below 500, but now we are both about 520. I am now facing the rebuild area of my credit score, but I don't know where to start. Any help? I see some people who talk about certain cards, but a good number of you seem to have had decent scores after dischage. Given our low scores, where is a good place to start?

    2.25 million in medical bills....ridiculous.

Remember, health care is not a right...It's a privilege!!!

I'd start by cleaning up your credit report.....

My actual bills derived from the VA not paying my medical bills like they were supposed too. I am a disabled veteran, and 100% VA covered, but they take forever (if ever) to get things done. I figured I would clear that up, so its clear I didnt view the healthcare as my right.

Logan, there is no right to judge anyone, especially on this forum. Folks come here for help.

Cantburn, might want to consider getting a secured credit card with a low limit or a card where you put down a security deposit. Remember to pay it off every month. Good luck.

Who's judging? Well I am judging US health care--the health care system in this country is so screwed up--there are the haves and the have nots. Fortunately I'm a have but I supported the health care bill and wish that it went further so the have nots would be taken care of......

This guy is the 2.25 million dollar man. His insurance failed him but what if he didn't have insurance? He'd be dead!

It did seem like you were accusing me of relying on "the system" and thinking others would take care of me. Imagine how it felt to me, the system I served for, left me hanging, and now I can't even get a car loan.

As a veteran I must speak up. I completely disagree with the idea that this new health care bill has a stinking chance of helping anybody. It will only continue to bankrupt the country like social security and medicare. Now I apologize for getting political on this forum.
