They do not rebuild your credit. They actually hurt your credit.
OP, you have some good advice in the posts above Stuart's post. You can not impove your score without first finding out exactly what is on your report. In order to get your actual report, visit www.annualcreditreport.com and get a copy of your actual report from each of the three credit bureaus. Most of the sites are not selling FICO scores any longer so be aware that you are just throwing your money away when you purchase scores that are not FICO scores. One of the only places for consumers to get a FICO score is www.myFICO.com You will be able to get your Equifax score and your TransUnion score. You can not get the Experian score as they no longer provide a FICO score to consumers - they do provide a score from a different scoring model on another site. Don't waste your money in purchasing it - it has no relaionship to FICO.Filed CH 7 9/30/2008

PayDay loans do not hurt your credit. They do not do a credit check for those types of loans and they don't report them to the credit bureau.
All that aside, I agree, STAY AWAY FROM THOSE. The fees are ridiculous. If for some reason, you could not come up with the money to pay it in full after the first 2 weeks, then you start this cycle of renewing them every payday simply to cover the interest and you have just created another bill for yourself.
Join a small credit union. My credit union has all sorts of loans. They not only offer the typical personal loans, they offer Signature loans, which are for about $500 and they have another loan they offer that's smaller than that which is sort of like a payday loan, without the huge interest rates. I haven't applied for any of the loans like that, but they did approve me for an auto loan 5 days after discharge.Filed Ch.13 August 2008,

I would also recommend trying for a card that pulls from your best credit score... IE: Hooters card pulls from trans union. I got a 1,100 limit with no annual fee and my trans union score was right around yours. But, score is not the only factor they look at... you need to make sure the actual accounts are listed properly and you don't have any negative remarks or anything just sitting there.
I also second the credit union idea... I was able to refinance my car loan with my credit union from 17.9% to 8.9%.BK Ch 7 Discharged 09/2009 | Anything I say can and should be used as friendly advice and sharing of experiences with an unbiased viewpoint.
