    First Premier Bank

I just received an "offer" from First Premier Bank for a platinum Mastercard.

If you receive this so-called "offer" in the mail... just shred it. I just shredded mine after reading the "initial" terms. Yes, pay $95.00 and receive a card with a $300 credit limit! Woopie!

I applied for and received the Hooter's Credit Card (from Merrick) and was given an initial credit limit of $1,000, with $1,000 available for cash advance, no annual fee, and 16.45% rate (okay, but not terrible).

Please know that having "low" credit limits on credit cards also affects your credit score. Don't apply for these $300 limit cards that seem to consume your balance before you even begin. Get the facts! Say no to these new predators.

I'm so glad I shredded that "offer" because it was worse for my credit than you could imagine. I have only two credit cards in my wallet. The (unsecured) Hooter's card and a $1,000 unsecured card from my bank. I learned to live on 2 check/debit cards (checking account tied) for 2 years. I can do without First Premier's junk credit card.

I got one yesterday, it had a $35 application fee, $175 yearly fee, credit limit of $700.
It had what looked liked a real card attached to the letter, call to activate stiker, the letter stated to call to activate, at first I was ticked since I thought they had sent me a card without me appling for one.
When I pulled the card off of the letter I then saw it was not a real card, the back of it also had printing on it, not a real card.

    I shredded it.

Have you tried for a Capitol One card yet Justbroke? I have two cards with them and they have raised the limits on both of them, leaving me with $3,500 total credit limit, one card is $2,000 and one card is $1,500.

I discharged over $15K on Capitol One. I don't even dare think of applying with them.

Ah, makes sense. I was wondering why you hadn't applied with them yet.

A secured card with your credit union or bank with a decent sized limit will do just as well at rebuilding anyway.

I just received an offer from First Premier today - a $25 'processing fee', plus a $175 annual fee for the privilidge of a $700 credit line at 23.99% interest.

I was tempted to call them and say - 'sorry, I'm bankrupt - not stupid.'

I got that same offer. I liked the "one time fee" of $25 and the "one time annual of $175".... only to read, "$174 annually thereafter." LOL, no thanks.
