The idea that you can't improve your score without a credit card is bogus.
This is nice that your scores have gone up without borrowing money. Everything I've read says that unless you borrow money (establish credit) scores won't go anywhere. So which is it?

Look, I am not saying that I know the right answer. All I can do is tell you what has happened to me. I re-affirmed my house and car but my mortgage has never reported because it's a small local bank and they just don't it I guess. My car loan is reporting so that is helping me. Other than that, just time passing by is helping me because I had 18 freaking insane inquiries on my record and those are slowly coming off along with the BK aging. Being honest, I am not really interested in my score because I have no intention of ever taking on more debt, but I understand the idea that some people lost their house in BK.
New Orleans: Home to the World Champion Saints, the biggest enviromental disaster and the biggest natural disaster in the history of this nation. Proud to call it home!

Certainly makes sense. I've got no other credit listings except a current student loan. All I have is negative stuff from BK. I think I'll stick with a few cards and build up credit because I'd like to get a new mortgage in 5 years or so.
