Please advise on post BK cleanup

I got my discharge in the first week of June and just got the results of my initial rounds of dispute. I had a total of 17 IIbs and 4 dropped off after an initial "not mine" dispute. The results were pretty uniform across all 3 CRAs. Citibank biz, capital one and the collection agency associated with capital one dropped off and my chase, BOA, citi consumer, advanta bank remained.

    Here are my Qs

    1. What strategy should i pursue as far as cleaning my reports? Ive read the sticky and Ive seacrhed the archives but I cant find any info on my specific case. All the tradelines as far as i can tell are reporting correctly. They are annotated as IIb, with zero balance and zero due. MY TU report only has blanks instead of a zero for the balance and past due fields. What should I do specifically to to clean my credit report? Id like to avoid sending out CMRR disputes that are going to be futile and useless unless I can entrap the CRA or OC into getting them to delete my IIbs. I'd also like any advice for these specific OCs as far as getting them to delete my IIbs.

    2. My student loans and mortgage and HELOC account are annotated as petition for BK or IIB. Will these revert back to pay as agreed eventually or do I need to dispute this information. I was current and never late on all these accounts and still plan to be so I would like them to be reported without any negative information.

My goal is to raise my score so I can get a private student loan consolidation and remove my mother as a cosigner on my private student loans. Thanks for any help.

I believe you are trying to eliminate your BK accounts from your credit reports by indicating they are not yours? All that is happening is that they will investigate your dispute, the account is temporarily removed from your report during the investigation, and when the creditor verifies it is yours and was included in BK, back on it goes. You cannot get a BK off your credit report and constantly disputing it will just result in a "frivilous" response from the CRA and they will advise you to deal directly with your creditor who believe me will not budge if you consistenly try to dispute an account that was included in BK.

The best way to raise your credit score is to ensure all your accounts are reporting correctly (quit disputing as not yours because that just does not work) and from here on out pay all bills on time, do not apply for too much credit as hard inquiries remain on credit reports for two years and nothing looks worse to a creditor than a recent BK discharge followed by numerous credit inquiries. Time is your friend after filing...nothing occurs overnight and it will probably be a while before you can do anything as to your student loans as mentioned in your posting.

This is the best free advise you will ever get. Time and no new debt are your two best friends right now. You have been given a second chance, use it wisely.

Things will be difficult, no need for you to add additional problems to the situation. Last year when my BK closed I got everything reporting correctly and now I am getting to fix it all again. The CR's and creditors really hate the fresh start you have gotten and try their best to mess it up.
