"Waiting for close" before getting low limit card for rebuild?

I'm wanting to get one of the low-limit cards available post-bk to start getting something reporting positives on my report each month. I had the discharge according to PACER on 6/2 and the status is now "Awaiting Closing". I know I wasn't to apply for new credit pre-discharge, but do I have to wait for the "closing" before opening a low-limit card to start fixing the mess? Is "closing" more official than having the discharge granted by the judge... or am I considered "done" with the process on 6/2 with the discharge papers?

While you should be done and ok, it might be beneficial to wait.

Your BK probably appears on your report right now as "filed". Once everything is discharged, closed, and a little bit of time for things to update -- it should say "Discharged".

That, combined with the additional time to ensure creditors have properly reported your accounts as IIB, will increase your chances of getting a decent offer.

I would suggest waiting until you are closed. Then ordering all three reports (free annual copies maybe?). If nothing is wrong, great. Otherwise dispute the accounts to get them to properly reflect IIB and $0 balances.

By that time you should be 1-2 months post discharge/closure and in a good position to apply.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if you could get a $300 Orchard now -- with a $59 annual fee.
