Case finally closed - pulled my credit

Ouch...493 500 and 510. Wow I so dont care either. The bk attorney today encouraged me to go get a credit card to start rebuilding. I dont know about that...but perhaps I should.

Anyway - I have a question - one of my creditors is reporting as "charged off" on 11/30. I filed 11/20. Can they do that? Should I challenge it? Does it make a difference?

Everyone else reports "included in bk".

Also - I included home depot as a creditor ( i had a 25k maxed out business credit line) But I also had a consumer card with no balance at the time of filing. It shows open and paying as agreed. I can still log in and see my account too. I wonder if they didn't close it? Can I use this card to rebuild my credit?

    Lana,

I would use the home depot card. $25 or $250 or whatever you need for a few months and let your credit build some history before applying for a new card.

If your home depot card doesn't work then go ahead and apply for an Orchard or some card that is BK friendly.

    Good luck!

I went through my credit report with each company and anything that didn't say included in bankruptcy, I disputed. Scores were in the mid to high 500's when we filed over a year ago and I just checked the other day and they range from 648-663, we bought a car, got a personal loan, and opened a small account for tires on the car. No credit cards for us, we just can't handle ourselves with them.

Sounds like HD made it thru your BK, so I would definitely use it to help rebuild your credit.

Also, be sure that everything shows as IIB AND $0 balance. Oh, and yes, you need to dispute that Charge-off since it happened after you filed. They aren't allowed to do that.
        Filed 8/2009
        Discharged & Closed 11/2009
        Now the rebuilding begins....
