Capital One - Is this a good sign?

    Capital One - Is this a good sign?

    So, I tried to apply for a capital one card again... and to my surprise... I did not get the usual denial letter saying previous delquency with capital one... they sent me a letter in the mail asking me to verify my social security number... the whole to help the government fight the funding of terrorism bla bla...

    Is this a good sign? Usually I get a straight up denial letter pretty soon after I apply... this is the first time I have gotten a verification letter.

    Could it be that you have applied for a CAP 1 card more than once prompting CAP 1 to send you the letter verifying your SSN? I would be careful disclosing PII (personal ID Info) when corresponding back and if the letter is truly from CAP 1.

      Hehe, well of course I know its from Capital One. I have applied before yes, but as all cards are doing extensive verifications now before approval I was assuming that's what it is.

      My husband is having a hell of a time activating his HSBC card... we thought we passed all their verification questions but now they want copies of utility bills, driver's license and a statement from our bank account.

        Well it was a good sign... I got my card today.

          Yeah! Wow, maybe it just took a few times before they finally caved in a gave you a card What's the credit limit if you don't mind me asking?

            Just read your other post...you got a 1k limit? That's more than me and I never filed on them, in fact I had a card years ago and was in good standing (never late in the 15 years I had them) and they gave me a $500 limit (raised limit 3 months later)!!
            May 2008 Hired 1st Attorney/Stopped paying CCs
            May 21, 2009 Retained 2nd Attorney
            May 28th - Filed for Ch 7 (FINALLY!)
            9/11/09 - DISCHARGED!!!!

              Hehe yea I dunno... guess there is hope for the rest out there that keep getting denied as well... just keep trying... I dunno why they finally caved.

              Yea, I noticed a lot of people are getting the 500, 300 limit range... not sure why I have been lucky to get more.
