I need the laptop for school. No one will give me a loan though unfortunately. I do have 3 verizon cell phones that I am going to put on ebay tonight and see how much I can get out of them. I paid cash for them so maybe I can use what I get out of the phones (all less than 6 months old with vcast and bluetooth).

Good plan-looking for ways to drum up more cash for what you want. That is a healthy outlook.

Only one odd question though-if you're almost out of school why would you want to buy a computer just for school?

Trust me; if your job requires one so bad, the employer will provide one for you. I worked for the cable company one time installing and troubleshooting customer's broadband issues and even they supplied me with one. It was a low paying job too.

the thing that keeps popping up when i apply for credit is the fact that i declared bankruptcy. It was for about $16,500 worth of credit card debt. The thing that ticks me off is that all of these companies use equifax which is the company that screwed up my credit report. All of my other reports are fine ( i checked them) the one that it seems like every company uses is the company that screwed up. I mean cumon my bankruptcy was finalized and discharged. They still report it as being open. I imagine this is keeping my credit score very low. I just wish they would hurry up and fix my report so I can get back the credit I rightfully deserve, at least what the other bureaus are giving me.

After bankruptcy, no one 'deserves' credit. We have to earn it-by starting small and using it wisely.

oh and 16 year olds deserve credit cards with 20,000 limits? I was getting offers for cards with credit limits of over $20,000 when i was 16. That's rediculous!!!! If people have to earn credit AFTER BANKRUPTCY then teenagers should have to EARN it as well.

I never said teenagers deserve it. I think parents should teach their kids about credit and the importance of using it wisely, and I also think money management should be taught in schools. In general, I don't think credit is a 'bad' thing, but I don't think people should rely on it. Saving to buy what you need/want is the best method, and maintaining credit should be for the purpose of 'emergencies', and building for purchasing a house. Of course, some of my views on credit came from my own mistakes.

I can't change the world-I can choose how I use credit from this point forward, and I can impact how my kids view money & credit as they get older. And, in a public forum like this, I'll feel free to share what I have learned about bankruptcy, credit, and rebuilding. And, when appropriate, I'll share what I think. Others reading can choose to use that info, or not. My main hope is that people coming here will learn, and be encouraged to build a stronger financial future for themselves.
