maybe consider a rent to own type place, but be prepared to pay like $30 a week at least which is crazy interest... and that would be paying on it for 2 years..

Please think twice, three, four hundred times before you do this though!!!! If you aren't very careful, you might be back at these boards in eight years...

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

i'm not going to get a laptop at rent a center or rentway. I want a place the either accepts payments or a place that i can get financed at.

Seriously, my advice is to save up about $300 to $400 and get a good used one on ebay. I'm a computer science major and unless you need one for graphic intensive gaming, it would be ridiculous to spend more than $400 for one especially for someone in your situation. Toshiba makes awesome reliable laptops and those are on ebay all the time for good prices. Just something to think about.

I've got $500 in my bank account right now. But the computer I want is going to run me $1000. I don't want a computer with 64 mb ram, a small hard drive, no dvd burner, etc. This is going to last me a couple years at least and going into the job market I need a decent laptop. Especially the cisco field I am going into.

I have seen laptops for 399.00 with wireless cards. Most stores will layaway for 90 days. There not for gaming, but they compute!

For a free office Suite go to www.openoffice.org.

Open office provides spreadsheet, text editor, presentation and drawing programs free! And the nice thing about Open Office is minimal compatibility issues. This alone will save you $80-$600.

              Good Luck

Well, its your money and priorities. I'm currently taking classes for my ccna, no dvd burner required for a laptop. Ya, its nice to have, but is it really required? Mine has a dvd player/cd burner and I still haven't used it to burn. It goes for around $500. Sure you want more than 64mb of ram, perhaps a 1.5 to 2 gig cpu, thats still doable in the $500 range. I looked on ebay just now and found some:

Too many to sift through, I'll leave that up to you but if you can't find a loan and will settle for a little less than what you would like, its there. Just spend time looking and make sure you buy from someone with a good feedback rating.

Haha, thanks. That bird has a frustrated look and its kind of representative of the expression on my face while dealing with CA's and being in the current situation I'm in.

Do a google search on financing for computers and see what comes up. You may also see if the folks at creditboards have any useful information related to getting subprime finanicing for a computer.

He doesn't exhibit the humble nature of someone who just filed bankruptcy. If I NEEDED a computer, I would have taken any of these wonderful suggestions, at least this thread will be here if someone else has the same question, and hopefully they will get something out of it.

                            Good job gang!

                              What the?????

I can't comprehend this folks. I can't imagine, for the life of me, why someone would want to start all over getting into this kind of debt again.

No offense MikeDz, but you're not being very realistic. You've already stated that you have 2 CC's that are maxed (or at least near the limit), and now, you want another CC to max out buying a new laptop? Everyone who has replied to your question has given very sound advice and I think you really need to listen better. Otherwise, we will just be wasting our time with you.

Again, no offense MikeDz, but you're possibly heading down the wrong path again. Keep your priorities in order.

Some people just don't "heed" the advice, folks!!

If he needs a pc so desperately "rentway or rentacenter" will sell him one (weekly payment) with no credit check..... Payment is kind of high per month, but it would solve his problem....

Sounds like he will be back in debt in no-time..... Evidently didn't learn anything from the 1st time around...
Especially if he has already maxed out 2 cc and looking for a 3rd.
