Possible to re-open a closed account?

Just curious if anyone know if it would be possible to re-open an account that was closed prior to filing bankruptcy. I have a few credit card accounts that closed before I filed. Some were on my behalf, some on behalf of the creditors.
    Thanks to all!

This depends on the creditor. They may require that your credit is run again, and the Bankruptcy could affect their decision. It doesn't hurt to try, but realize that you will probably get a hard inquiry hit when you ask. Continuing to seek credit in a short period of time, of course, will lower your score. The affect of multiple hard inquiries on your credit report can last 6 months to 2 years (at which time they roll off).

      Thanks for your input jb.

Not sure if this is something worth the risk of a hard inquiry or not.

Has anyone ever attempted this and had any success?

If you or a creditor closed an account prior to filing, that account is closed and the account number unusuable because of the wording that you will find in the agreement that was signed when the credit account was open. You would have to reapply for a new account and that would mean running a current credit check. Unfortunately as we all eventually find out, getting around a BK on our credit reports is not easy...
