whats the best way to get credit, without..

I'd like to get some input as to how i can rebuild my credit without getting a credit card.. ??.. I don't own my home anymore, bk that, I'm currently renting from a family member .. the only thing that we have is two cars that we refirmed durning our bk.. I do however, would like to rebuild my husbands fico score, so if we do ever decide to buy a home, or get a car later, much later down the road, will be able to do so without paying a high intrest rate, well at lest get a desent rate !

    all advice is welcome

Secured loan with cash at a Credit Union (not a bank). There is a current thread about this subject right now elseware on the site, I think.

Yes, go to a bank and open a CD. Put in, say, $2500. A week later, go to the same bank and borrow $2000 on a short term -- say 6 months -- loan and use your CD as collateral. The bank won't turn you down because they are 100% + secured. Pay it back, making your payments right on time every month. Don't pay it off early. Rinse. Repeat. Do this at several banks. Before you know it, you've got AAA credit references from 3 or 4 banks.
Pay no attention to anything I post. I graduated last in my class from a fly-by-night law school that no longer exists; I never studied or went to class; and I only post on internet forums when I'm too drunk to crawl away from the computer.

Yea, I thought that too. You can get turned down...I just recently
dangled $1000 in front of citibank for a secured card, DENIED!

so went with Appliedbank.com - Guranteed approval! $10/mo fee
so far, no other fees, and so far, looks fairly good.

but sounds like you are talking about something different.

I do believe a loan holds more credit building power than a credit card, however many will tell you a mix of both is best for optimal credit building.

I really do not think creditors want you to rebuild your credit...they
have more to gain if your credit stays in limbo...I have been trying
to rebuild my wife's credit for years, making payments on time...
paying off stuff, etc...then when you do get something off
the credit report, then some other creditor sneaks their
way on, not even contacting you...then everytime you turn
around, some company has pulled an inquiry on your report
that you never heard of, its all BS if you ask me...
