Hmmm...did you actually GO to Hooters? Maybe that is a requirement for keeping the card active. I will make the sacrifice next week and let you know how it went ;)

No requirement to use the Hooter's card @ Hooters. Credit card companies can do whatever they want & everyone who has card(s) has already received that information when they signed up for the card and/or updates with containing that pertinent information, recently in the mail. People just don't read, they're just all about charging and credit cards know this and are ready to play the game.

Hooter's was a great card to rebuild with but it sounds like they're off the chain as it stands.

Just an update, Hooters closed my card for too many new accounts...I had a total of four, all rebuilder cards. Avoid Hooters IMO. Always PIF'd and never had more than 50 or so balance on 800 limit.

I'm so freaking mad. How can 2 credit cards and 1 vehicle loan be excessive? I called them on the phone and they aren't budging they said the card is closed b/c we have too many new lines of credit.
It's all due to your BK...you are a credit risk and will be for a while so Hooters played it safe as it appeared you were accumulating too much credit too soon after a Chapter 7 discharge. They have the right to do that as they can close your account at any time for any reason - read the clauses in the agreement you signed when you obtained the card.

Hey, I just got my hooters m/c in the mail yesterday and activated it. It has a $500 limit with a 36/yr annual fee. My question is, do they only cancel people with no annual fees that pay in full every month because they aren't making any money off of them or will they cancel customers with an annual fee as well? I'm thinking since I have not used the card yet and I have not paid the annual fee yet, I should just call them and beat them to their game and cancel it myself. I'd hate to have them cancel it 2 months down the road after I paid the annual fee. Also, I've opened up 5 credit cards since my discharge which was 7/2009 so they already have an excuse to close my account. What do you guys think?

I love my hooters card... I've had it since October of last year. I use it more extensively than any of my other cards but I usually pay it over time. I make large payments and keep the balance down pretty low...but I don't pay it off. I don't have annual fee and my limit is 1100. They held my payments for a few months after I got them but they don't do it anymore.

For me, its my best credit card. Will they close your account? Who is to say... but I wouldn't not activiate just cause you're scared they will close it.
