    credit karma? or others?

    Hi,

For anyone that has used Credit Karma for their credit scores- how accurate is the score?

Anyone have suggestions for any similar sites with no or low fees?

    Thanks

Don't waste your money. Any credit scores that don't come directly from Experian or Fair Issac are just a best guess.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Experian scores are no longer FICO scores. They are using the VantageScore - which is not anything like the FICO scoring model.

TrueCredit is no longer providing FICO scores either. Credit Karma uses a different scoring model.

If you are going to buy scores, make sure they are the FICO scores. Otherwise don't bother with purchasing your score, just look at the body of your report for errors.

I subscribe to Myfico.com and freecreditreport.com and pay monthly service fees....

I also use creditkarma (which is free).

I'll give you the latest of my personal experience with credit karma and the actual true myfico.com TransUnion score... I just checked them Friday and matched them up...

        Myfico.com TU Score: 590
        Creditkarma.com Score: 617

I checked them within 15 minutes of each other Friday. I generally check them about once every month or two.... and they have always been different (obvious explanation is creditkarma is NOT a true FICO score). I more or less check creditkarma.com for my entertainment

I don't get why the CRAs think this FICO thing has to be so elusive to the consumer. It is what our lenders look at. What is so abysmally wrong with having an accurate picture of one's own credit status? They do me one better, personally. Several times, (not recently, but in the past) there have been completely different accounts listed on my credit report pulled by a lender than what was listed on the copy they furnished to me. Same day. Oh. And this year I couldn't even get my free annual credit reports from Trans Union and Experian because they have addresses on there that are not mine, and don't believe MY id is real. It's so much fun. I hate them all.
