Got a decent CC offer from Capital One?? What do you think?

I havent even been discharged and Ive been getting what seems to be a decent CC offer. This is an unsecured card...

    What do you think..

    Its a Platinum (??)
    18.9% variable interest

The only fee is a $39 annual fee

I know the variable interest part is crummy, but from what Ive been reading this isnt too bad.

Depends on how you look at it. Its been a year since my discharge and i have just this week tried to obtain a cc to start rebuilding. I was approved for Cap One,

    Capital One Platinum Card
0% interest for 6 months then goes to 16.9%
    39 buck annual fee

If i don't have any problems with, payments or exceeding the credit line for 3 consecutive billing cycles, i will get an increased credit line.

My starting credit line is $300.00

It's a start. Don't really want it but, we are going to buy a house within the next year or 2 and want some kind of positive credit history.

We applied for Cap One about a month after our discharge.

We got a $300 limit, $39 annual fee and a fixed rate of 14.9.

So, with most of these cards, are the annual fees charged right away or at the end of your full year?

With all the capital one talk I applied last week. I reveiced my card last night.

                Terms:

                CL - $1000
Intrest is 0% until July then goes up to 22% (ouch)
                No annual fee

I was just discharged at the beginning on the month.

so for a minimum of three months living a new and more budgeted life, you now have your "New Start". Why even pollute it with a credit card? Particularly with a seductive zero percent and no charge. 22% used to be usury some years ago. Try cash or Debit card. You won't be a slave to a lender. Just my opinion. Have a great New Year (and New Start) 'Hub

It becomes like this, I got a juniper card two years ago. I've taken it to the limit & paid it off. Never been late, always paid triple minimum. They raised my credit line & my interest. Go figure.

I don't think interest rates mean anything anymore, because unless it's something like a car repair, having a balance is just like hanging off a cliff these days.

I couldn't agree more as I have been paying cash for over 2 years. But I am getting to the point that it is nice to have a revolving credit line and knowing I have the cash to payoff my credit card debt. Lessons have been learned and I am ready to get a card (with no more than a $500 max). It wasn't the card that got us into trouble but the crap we put on it and the increased credit limits to put the last nail in the coffin.

I would see what the hooter's mastercard offers you first... I got a nice limit with no annual fee and a decent rate a few months after discharge. They pull transunion.

I receive a Capitol One Credit card in OCT 09. My BK closed in March 09. I charged a couple hundred on a 0% interest card. Made double min payments and they raised my credit limit in Jan to 750.00 from 500.00. Now, since I want to finance a home in the future I am using this to rebuild my credit card. I also travel occasionally on business. I was using my ATM card until one of the hotels put a 300.00 hold on money in my account for "possible" incidentals because it was not a credit card.

Fortunately for me I will be paying off two cars that I reaffirmed and my house payment has never been late because the house payment is auto deducted each month.
