Best Buy Reward Zone MC Approved!

Saw a few BK people on Creditboards getting approved, so I gave it a shot. Got the notice to call, so a nice girl in India asked me a few ID questions...and BOOM

Got a decent limit, and it's a MC not the store card, great for the rebuilding process.

I was discharged 10-06-09. Needed a TV BAD! was going to pay cash but decided to see if I could start rebuilding credit. Best Buy (HSBC) card was the 1srt & only card I applied for. Was approved for a $500 limit with $39 fee @17.9 %.Bought TV on it For $430 decided to pay for it in 2 installments paid $250 on the dec 1 got emial with next months bill and a credit line increase to $800. Felts so good I paid my balance off dont need the increase but it is nice to see there is a road back.

I was discharged in March and applied in June and was rejected. I decided to apply again since it's been a full six months, and I got a message that my application was still being processed with a link to check the status. I don't recall getting that the first time, so I hope that means it's approved.

HSBC is BK friendly (i.e., Orchard Bank). Many store cards can be used as a MC, Discover, etc. Walmart is one of them.

I just got that card too! Same limit...500...39 annual fee. I'm pretty happy about it as its not an orchard bank card... I don't like those. I hope I can get the limit raised as well! Congrats!

Still rip offs, just a different method...

i got this card, $300 limit. i didnt like the fact that every one of my payments were put on a min. 2 week hold, with a 28 day billing cycle, that means half the time your payment is tied up and "pending" for over 2wks even though the bank shows the payment cleared the next day after online payment was made. i canceled the acct after this bs, they couldnt explain why a 2 week hold was necessary when the payment had already cleared. im not putting up with this kind of rip off crap any more. they dont need my biz, other suckers r willing going along. i paid all cash this holiday and survived just fine.
there is a big push in the banking community to expand the "use" of others peoples money, in even the most basic transactions. they are starting to put unnecessary holds on all sorts of transactions, even though the funds have cleared. all the big banks are doing it now or expanding it. most people dont care because they have the money to cover it and dont notice it, but its still being "used" by the banks without any compensation except to themselves.

I'm not gonna complain too much... I am a post bankruptcy consumer...getting a credit card is a blessing to me. I'll deal with the payment holds

Mr. Smith and Amy, just use the BillPay from your bank and send them the payment, don't let them take it out...that way there will not be any hold.

I pay my bills via bill pay and a year or so back I had charged my CC close to my limit on the card of $3500. I paid it off yet when I went to use the card a few days later I was denied. CapOne said I had to wait 10 business days for the payment to clear even though it showed credited to my account.

Just another reason to use a debit card!!!!

Some banks do that if the payment is above a certain amount...

In my experience, the cards do hold the available credit after online payments, but only the first payment or two when the account is still new. I haven't had any problems after the first couple of payments. I knew to expect this, so it didn't bother me.
