Husband and I both received offers in the mail today!

From First Premier Bank, offering us 9.99% fixed rate. Uh we're not even discharged or closed yet. Can they really do that already? I'm far from ready to open any new credit.

    Anyone know anything about them?

This bank preys upon people with really bad credit and usually charges ridiculous fees and monthly charges (i.e., offering a $500 credit limit but with sign on and other fees you may end up with only have $39 of available credit). You received this offer because you filed BK and they know you will be debt free soon and want your money. Do a web search and if you really think this is the card for you with all the stuff involved, it's up to you. Want my advice? Wait a whilel after discharge and move slowly and shred the offer. Just wait - you will start to receive more garbage offers, especially from auto places. They are businesses and want your money - there are lenders who obtain all the public information they can on filers and send them all sorts of offers. It's all because you fall in the realm of having poor credit or have filed BK.

My wife got an offer from Capital One this week and we are to be discharged in 2 weeks on Dec 15th. Capital One was included in the bankruptcy. 0% for 1 year on purchases, then 18.999%. We are not going to do anything with this and see what other offers come in.

my husband and I got offers from them too -same rate. But look at the disclosure statement; their fees eat up the entire balance they're giving you.

We're not discharged yet either. I just placed them aside and will wait until we're discharged to get some decent cards to rebuild credit

I am not getting ANY credit cards. I am going to sit tight and become debt free by paying off the reaffs with time now. Once you don't have a credit card, and go shopping, and have to use cash (if you have any) to buy a WANT item, you think more than twice about spending your cash now. I'd rather have a low credit score from here on out than to have credit card debt digging into my back all over again. I have heard that bk filers will end up in the same shape as before filing, andafter discharge within 2+ yrs. by getting back into credit card debt all over again. My eyes are wide open, and I want to sleep peacefully at night knowing I am going to be debt free. Credit card debt sneaks up on you so I am being very cautious. It is like being an addict to use credit card debt for most of us. Rethinking to get back into credit card debt or even take on more secured debt is not going to happen to me again.......

I got the same offer after I filed and the first thing I thought was...Are you kidding me? These people are nuts to think I'd fall for those terms. So my advice would be to run...don't walk to the shredder on that one.

You are going to be bombarded with all kinds of offers in the mail now that you filed. Believe me, this is only the beginning. Hardly a day goes by that I don't get a cc offer or a letter from an auto dealer. I just put them thru my shredder and then go about my day knowing I am debt-free and living on MY money.

              Stay away from FPB.

You will get offers from HSBC and Orchard, they are both the same bank so choose whichever gives you no A/F. Cap One is a good re-builder card, you will probably get something from them.

Hooters may approve you also...they gave me no A/F right after discharge.

              Good Luck!

Thanks for the responses. I'm not getting any cards, I was just surprised that we were getting offers already.
