Well....I called them and they said they did not have my application on file....so the guy took an app from me over the phone....at the end he said.....ok you will receive something from us in a few days...I asked if I was approved or denied...and he said he didn't know that they don't do instant answers. Anyone else get that??

Well, when I was first discharged, I tried hooters and I was denied... I tried again after a month or so and then I was approved. If they didn't ask you any security questions, then its probably a denial.

When you apply online, if you're approved it generally takes you to a security question and answer thingy... then they send you an email saying thank you for applying bla bla...you'll hear from us in 5-10 days.

Not sure how it works over the phone... but if they call you back in a day or so to do the security questions, then that's a good sign.

They did ask me a few security questions when I was doing the app over the phone....I guess I will have to wait and see...Patience is not my greatest virtue however...

Hooters can take up to a week or so to get the decision to you. I have Hooters and when I applied, I got the same mumbo-jumbo about receiving the decision in the mail. I thought it was an instant denial, but after a week or so, the Hooters card showed up with a welcome and everything about my account. Hooters (by Merrick bank) just does it that way. And now with the new credit card rules to take effect, CC issuers are probably reviewing applications more closely.

Anyways, I know it's hard to wait for the response, but good things come to those who wait.

I applied last night, and received a call from Merrick bank today asking to verify some information. Apparently the address on my app wasn't showing up on my credit report. I explained to them that I had just moved a couple months ago, and the guy on the phone said that I was approved and would get my card in 5-10 days. I asked what my limit/terms were, and he said he didn't have that information. *shrug*

Usually, the underwriters will determine your limit and interest rate, which I assume it wasn't an underwriter who contacted you, so he/she cannot tell you.

I applied for this card on January 16 and still haven't heard back from them. I'll take that as a "no."

I was discharged 10/2009 and received a Orchard Unsecured card with a CL of $300 near the beginning of November. I've used it and paid it off. I think I carried a $10 balance one month just to show that I was carrying some type of balance.

I remember applying for Hooters at that time and they said no right away on the website.

I applied on Thursday and I just called. The rep said an account had been setup on the 28th and the card was on the way. She said the CL was $300. I just wanted an additional card to the Orchard so more than one card would be reporting.

I'm vegetarian, so the only thing I get at Hooters (well, when I went like....3 years ago?) was a grilled cheese. It was pretty good though.

That's a good option for some people. Unfortunately, if you plan to use credit ever again in your life, you gotta start somewhere. I chose to start with really small limit credit cards that I have yet to pay any interest on. Some make other choices.

For those who feel they'll never use credit cards again, you have to picture starting over after BK the same as attmepting to get your first auto loan or CC when you turned, let's say, 18 years old. You had no credit then, and you proably needed a co-signer. You just started building your credit. Well maybe think of the fresh start after BK a somewhat similar situation.

It's all good to never have any CC's again, but realize that you could be holding yourself back if you need something in the future. I'm not saying to dive in and go all out right after the BK. Hopefully, the BK was also a learning expereince and we've become wiser about using credit, and we take small steps to get where we once were.........owning a home, at least one car, and living the life we may have had before we got into too deep.

Well, after I got the mail today I still hadn't heard back from Hooters so I decided to give them a call. I really wasn't expecting to be approved, but in the off chance that I was I wanted to be sure that my card didn't end up in someone else' mailbox.

Anyway, my account was set up on January 27 with an $1100 limit!
