Approved for Capital One and Orchard bank

Well, I wasn't going to apply for any cards, since I really don't want to use credit anymore. But I do want to buy a house in a couple of years. To make a long story short, a few of my money-savvy and credit-worthy friends and family convinced me to rebuild my credit. So I applied for the Capital One card and the Orchard bank card, since that seems to be what everyone here is rebuilding with.

Capital One: They pulled all THREE credit reports. Here are my scores:
    Equifax: 655
    Experian: 648
Transunion: 606 (not everything is reporting correctly on transunion yet)

I received $1,000 credit limit from Capital One. I never bk'ed on them or charged them off or had any late payments. I was discharged Nov 5 (three weeks ago).

    Orchard Bank: They pulled Experian

I received a $300 credit limit. I DID bk on several HSBC cards, so I was surprised I got this card 3 weeks post discharge.

I am done with cards. I just wanted a couple of cards to show a credit history so that I can get a decent mortgage in a couple of years.

Did you get a pre approval offer from capital one or did you just apply?

I just applied. I opted out of all pre-approval offers. I just went to the CaptialOne website and applied.

        Congrats to you!

Capital One hates me cause the denial reason kept saying too many deliquent capital one accounts (bk'd one credit card) but I just got approved for a hooters card with pretty good terms! Yay!

LOL... not sure why people would have such a stigma over what kind of credit card you have. I really don't give a crap that there is a big owl with the word hooters on my card. And I don't care what other people think about me with generally most everything.

Besides.... most of the time you swipe your own cards these days anyways... easily hidden.

              Congrats!!

I think thats a great idea to rebuild your credit and build payment history.

I could really care less about the people who obsess over not ever getting a credit card again and paying cash for everything. Sure, that keeps you out of potentially getting into the same situation again, but how many people do THEY know who have filed bankruptcy more than once? Probably themselves... alas the guilty conscience ;)

I now have 3 credit cards with small balances (Have my OnStar go to one CC, my gym membership go to another, and my experian fee go to the third) that I alternate paying in full every month so it builds a payment history, and a secured loan throught my CU. I was discharged April 2009. I, too, plan on purchasing a home in the next 1-2 years. Paying cash for all of your purchases does NOT build credit history and you'd be renting the rest of your life. Kudos to you!
              Retained bk7 laywer 8-12-08, Filed 12-22, 341 Meeting Scheduled 1-29-09

Reason for filing: Medical, NOT irresponsibility with credit.
