We bk'd a cap1 CC (was just discharged Nov.09) and were just approved for the Classic Platinum with the following:

    Rates and Fees Term Details

Purchase APR: 0% until November 2010
    16.9% variable after that
    Transfer Information: 16.9% variable
    No Transfer Fee

    Annual Fee: $39

Don't know the credit limit as of yet. Will update once I know.

Did you get something in the mail or did you get pre-approved on the website?

For us we just applied online and got the 7-10 day thing. Then about a week later we received an email saying our new card was on the way. Received the card today and got a $500 credit limit. That's a higher starting limit then what we got before we filed BK

Oops wait... we did get a pre-approval letter in the mail about 3 wks ago ... tried applying on their website but dh had Experian frozen so they weren't able to give us an answer. We unfroze his experian file and then re-applied (but didn't use the pre-approval letter because I had accidentally thrown it away already).

Thanks! I BK'd them but would like to get another card since they treated me so well pre-BK.

So, I went online and went to the main page (capitalone.com). Under "Top Requests", I chose "See if you pre-qualify for a card". The next page asks you to punch in a few pieces of info. It even states it's not an official CC app. This is what came back:

            Here's what we found
CCsAreEvil, here's an offer that might interest you.

            Capital One Classic Platinum
            [ APPLY NOW ] <-- button

Purchase APR: 0% until November 2010 - 16.9% variable after that
            Transfer Information: 16.9% variable
            No Transfer Fee
            Annual Fee: $39

Is it supposed to actually say "You are pre-approved for" or some flavor of language like that? I have not applied yet.

Ours just said we didn't have any pre-approved offers (or something like that) -- but that we could apply for the classic platinum. I applied and got the 7-10 day thing. Then about a week later I received an email saying our new card was on it's way. So yeah, if you aren't offered a pre-approved card you can always go ahead and apply for the card they offered. Good luck

Following several members advice on this board I decided to give my luck a try today and apply for a capital one CC on line. Keep in mind I just got discharged yesterday 2/22/10 which also turns out to be the same day that the new credit card regulations take effect. So I went to their website and clicked on the "see if you pre-qualify" option. Filled in some simple questions and got a response that I did not have any pre-qualification offers but I may be interested in applying for a Capital one Platinum card. I applied for the card and to my surprise was APPROVED and was informed I would receive the card in 7-10 days. Will keep this board posted once I receive the card and find out what the crdit limit and details are.

I hear that! I feel so debt free!! It's just an amazing feeling! I am so much wiser now. Now I'm in control of the credit cards.... they are no longer in control of me!

I went ahead and got a second cap1 one card

I decided to add this info to this thread instead of starting my own, since there are so many cap1 threads already. In talking with some people regarding what I need to do to qualify for a decent mortgage at my two year mark, all of them mentioned that I should have 3-4 open positive tradelines reporting post discharge. I went ahead and got a capone and an Orchard bank card right away after discharge. I was approved for $1,000 on cap one and $300 on Orchard and both are reporting. My credit score has gone up about 30-40 points and is now about 690 on all three reports (transunion and equifax are fico scores, experian doesn't do fico, so its their proprietary score).

I have a car loan reporting and my student loans as well.

I decided to get one more trade line and didn't want to deal with some of the more bottom feeding cards, so I applied for a second cap one card last weekend and again was approved for $1,000.

I am only using the cards to establish a post-discharge credit history, and am paying in full each month. Both cap one cards will raise my limit to $1,500 after four months. The second cap one card is a rewards card.

I am posting this info in case anyone is looking for another card to complete their rebuilding portfolio.
You can't take a picture of this. It's already gone. ~~Nate, Six Feet Under

I'm sorry if this has been asked/answered before but does anyone know which CRA CapOne has been doing the hard pulls on lately?

Debt free life and congrats on the credit card in the same sentence. I don't know whether to laugh till I urinate or cry.

I was so hesitant to even apply, as we are doing ok without CC's. But, DH really needs something for work because if he travels, he is reimbursed for food, etc. So, I almost applied for an Orchard...but the annual fee was $59. I did some searching and saw the Capital One chat here. We applied for DH only and got approved. Same as the poster above; $39 annual fee; 16.9%. Also not sure of the credit limit...we'll see. I was surprised. But, we also did not BK anything from Capital One, maybe that is why? In any case, I thought we would only get something secured...so this is great. I have a Macy's Visa that survived BK with a $300 limit that I don't even carry, but it is here in case of emergency.

Mom2three09, did you get your card yet? What did your credit limit turn out to be??

Wow, how did you pull that one off? I just applied for a second Cap1 card and got denied. I already have thr platinum one with the 16.9% with no rewards. I applied for the rewards one with 17.9% int but got denied. Oh well.
