Capital One won't give me any credit after BK'ing them. The only reason they site on the denial letter is "excessive deliquency with capital one" or something like that. It was only like 1,100 I BK'd on them.

I got a Hooters card last month with a 1,100 limit and no fee and I just got approved for an HSBC Reward Zone Mastercard with a 500 dollar limit. So, I'm very pleased.

I'm wondering what caused them to deny you. Don't you disclose your wages and rent/mortgage costs and such? Could how much your making be the factor?

I include CapOne in mine and just got dc'd. I'm wondering if I should dare even try to apply with them.

I disclosed rent/mortage and wages. Also, I am making more than 30 times the credit limit I asked, so I doubt income is an issue.

I would definitely try CapOne! Let us know how it goes!

I would try Capital One as well. I can't hurt. I was so surprised they approved me less than 30 days out of bk and even though I didn't bk a card with them, we did bk a car loan with them. I'm still in shock. I really didn't even want credit but they kept sending me these applications and I thought well try it for a lark just to see what happens. So you just never know.

i was able to get a used car loan around 13.99% less than a month after discharge. cap one. i put $4K down and a good friend worked in the f and i dept and had a good relationship with one of her loan guys. i am ok with that for now.

my discharge was in aug 09 and i haven't applied for any cc's yet. i can't bring myself to pay the $39 annual fee and some additional charge around $39 without even using the card. i'll give in eventually.

Cap1 sent me an offer in the mail for a CC and I did the online application using the information in the offer and was declined. I just discharged, didn't have a cap1 card in the bk but cosigned my daughter's car that was financed by cap1.
It's a little early to apply I think, the ink is hardly dry on my discharge but the offer was no annual fee 17% int, so I thought I'd give it a try.
I'll find the right card to start rebuilding credit; guess it won't be cap1

It appears that the people that are approved for Capital One are all paying an annual fee. I would assume that the no annual fee and lower interest card that you applied for will go to the better credit people.

I'm sure you're right Logan. I set my sights too high and should have known better. If having to work a little harder to get credit to rebuild and pay higher int rates is the price for the peace of mind I have now post discharge, I'm good with that.

Capital One won't touch me either...but the hooters card I have has no annual fee or anything and the interest rate is reasonable. Have you tried them?

Interest rate should not matter if you pay your bill down to 0 every month. Annual fee does matter.

I don't know why people care what their interest rates are since you should not be carrying balances. Something we all should've learned since we all went BK.

i took out an auto loan thru cap one about 4 mos ago and they keep sending me cc offers. i've declined them due to the ann fee $69 and enrollment fee $69. i could live with one but not both.

what cards have you guys had luck with. i'm about 6 mos post discharge and have my auto loan i have paid since oct on so it's probably too soon to get anything without all the fees.

I just applied with Cap One and got approved. I have no idea how much my credit line is though. I already have a secured CC with Public Savings Bank that's I've been using for 6 months.

Completely agree, the best card I ever had was an AMEX that I had to pay in full every month.
