Ok, got my rebuilding tools in place for now :)

So about 2 weeks after my discharge I have the following to help rebuild my credit:

    Orchard Bank MC, 1500 c/l, 39 a/f.
    Hooters MC, 800 c/l, no a/f
    Macy's 2000 c/l, survived BK

Current Plans: Buy something from Conn's Electronics and Lack's Furniture as they report to all 3 reports and will give credit if you are able to breathe while in the store, it is secured/revolving so they can pick it up if not paid. A revolving tradeline is good for later mortgage consideration also is what I hear...

After 6 months: Will start trying for a USDA mortgage depending if my scores are 620+ yet.

Good luck and you WILL get any credit you need after filing and discharge.

    Also: PAY IN FULL!

Sounds like a great start! We have Conn's also. They told us that they approve even poor credit as long as you can make a down payment. They approved us with nothing down though. It made me wonder what they consider poor credit. LOL
4/09 Converted to a Ch 7 due to loss in dh's income
5/09 UST now involved no idea what happens next
7/09 UST has decided to withdraw his motion to dismiss!
    7/27/09 DISCHARGED!!!

Sounds like you have a good start! I wish we had a Conn's around here... sounds very promising!

Dh and I both Bk'd HSBC, Orchard & Hooters so I don't know if it would do us any good to try to get those starter cards. Stinks because we will have nothing reporting since our van payment doesn't report and I'm sure our mrtg isn't going to either. Our plan is to put our house on the market in the spring or as soon as our scores are good enough to get a USDA loan...

Good luck to everyone who's in the rebuilding mode right now

mom: You might try Cap One, they denied me but I'm in a dispute with them on one of my reports. I should have waited before applying with them till that was resolved. You will get plenty of sucky offers so check here first before accepting anything. Good luck!
