Where should I go to monitor my credit report

Not that I want to do this, but I just want to make sure things are correct after this is all over with.

I am hoping for a free site, but maybe you all can guide me.

Apologies for asking if it has already been asked- I think a sticky is in order.

www.annualcreditreport.com is where you can get your three credit reports for free. As far as monitoring, as you can look at it on a daily basis, get alerts, and scores you would have to pay. Average charge seems to be around $15 for each credit burea.

I use equifax to monitor all three of my reports. It notifies me of all inqueries and changes no matter which report it hits. I believe coralfang is right that it costs about 15 dollars a month typically.

Right now I am just going from one free site to another every few months. Do a search on free credit report AND score. I've used identityguard.com, truecredit (transunion) and privacy matters 1-2-3 via credit.com. Just make sure to cancel within the 7 or 30 day free trial period or they'd start billing you monthly.

TrueCredit does not update your reports. I was paying $13.95 a month and almost a year later I realized my scores werent changing. Waste of money if you ask me. I cancelled them after reading horror stories about TrueCredit and switched to MyFico. I pay $4.95 a month for my TransUnion report and score. I can buy my others if need be, but I figure as long as I concentrate on one, the others should follow close behind.

www.annualcreditreport.com is the best place to just check in once a year. Here are some details on the different places you can get credit monitoring.

My bank offers a service for $9.95 per month called Identity Alert and it provides fraud alert and insurance, as well as access to credit reports and scores for all three bureaus. Before signing up with any of the credit bureaus, it would be worth it to inquire about these services with your own bank. I think you'll get a better service for less money.

If you have a Costco membership you can get identity guard for $7.95 a month. It includes credit monitoring a free credit report every month for all 3 credit agencies.

We tried True Credit and cancelled b/c the info it gave was incorrect. We had it for 3 months and everytime I pulled dh's credit report it was the same darn report from when we opened the account. It made me think his report was all messed up when in reality it wasn't. Everything had been updated correctly True Credit was just displaying the wrong report.

How do you cancel your TrueCredit account? I don't see anywhere on the site that shows how to cancel.

                    Thanks!

You have to call them to cancel. They will try to talk you into keeping it by offering you a lower rate. Then they will try to sell you other stuff so be prepared.

Yes, it is a pain but just keep telling them "No thanks, I'm not interested" because they will ask you about 4 or 5 times, 4 or 5 different ways, if you want to keep it!
