Capitol 1 gave me a unsecured credit card for $500.00. I was discharged this year. I just applied last month. The card has 0% on purchases for the first 3 months and then 21%. However, they said after 3 consecutive months my available credit could bounce up to 1500.00.. another board confirmed they did this for them. My credit score is 633

That's even better, I don't want to spend too much money as security deposits... I'll make sure to try Capitol One.

      Thanks!

Yes, I recommend Capital One, it gave me 0% until mid 2010 and 19% interest after that. I applied a couple weeks after I was discharged and although I don't know what my credit score is now that I've been discharged, it was like in the 400's before BK. That was the best out there for me.

P.S. There was a $39 annual fee and after 3 months of on-time payments, they will raise you limit if you want them to.

Capital One, Orchard, Hooters, HSBC are all good rebuilder companies.

Thank you both for the information! My only question is: do you know if I open an account in my name (some banks don't allow joint applications) that they will report on my wife's credit profile as well? During the debtor education course, they said that there's a law where banks have to report one spouse's credit history to the credit profile of the other spouse. So that keeps me guessing if we'll have to open credit cards separately or if we'll be able to just have one?

            Thanks once again!
