Current MyFico Scores Less than 1 Yr Post BK

    TU - 646
    Equifax - 672
    Experian (from 1/2/2009) 696

I also noticed that my car amount is still being factored in to my debt ratio even though it was discharged and I let it go back to the bank. So I'll need to dispute that.

Hopefully next year I'll be better positioned to purchase my first home.

Most lenders/mortgage plans -- USDA and VA are exceptions, but have restrictions for eligibility either of the property or buyer -- won't consider a Chapter 7 filer until 2 years past discharge date.
      Best of luck.

MissMaGoo - I really don't know what my scores were pre-filing. I had pulled my credit reports to assist me with my bk but didn't pull my credit scores. Sorry - But if you pay your bills on time, get some new credit post bk, and clean up the inaccuracies on your report, scores will go up. I can tell you though that 9/12/2008 my TU score was 574 and now it's 646. And my Equifax was 626 on 9/12 and now it's 672.

Oldhack - I'm aware of the time limits post bk to buy a home. Let me re-phrase....hopefully in roughly another years time (give or take some months) I'll be better positioned to buy my first home.

I've been thinking about going through NACA which will take time anyway. I'm in no hurry. I also have the VA option since I'm a vet. But actually I believe they've upped it to 2 yrs post bk as well.

Or if we can both get decent jobs, we might just move into my husband's family home. The trick is getting decent jobs where his family home is located. It's a very rural area where we'd actually prefer to be. There'd be no mortgage....just taxes...utilities ect.
