Those of you that have gotten Capital One post BK..

Where are the terms of the card? Dh got one in the mail today. I've read through all the paperwork twice and no where on it does it list the APR or the fees associated with it.

Shouldn't they put that in writing?

    Hi Aces,
The APR and other important information was stated before the application was "submitted". My wife and I recently received our card, but we didn't have any APR information in the packet either. You can call 800-955-7070 and inquiry, or just wait for your first statement cause it will be posted on the back on it.

    Hope this helps

I received an email today from Capital One letting me know that my new CC had been sent out and that I should be receiving it shortly. I called to get the specifics and I was approved for the Capital One Platinum (unsecured) with a $1,000 limit; 12.7% variable APR with no annual fee.

Not sure if this was the smartest move I've ever made but I just tried applying for a Capital One card and was approved (this the day after my discharge)! I was given 3 options #1 $39 annual fee and low interest rate #2 $19 annual fee and medium interest rate or #3 $0 annual fee and 23% interest rate. After thinking about it, I decided to go with #3. My main purpose for getting a credit card is to rebuild my credit and I am hoping to do what my husband does which is charge living expenses that I would make anyways and pay it off IN FULL every month which would make the interest rate moot. Plus this will be a good incentive to make sure I do pay it off in full. I kinda feel like a little kid that has just been handed a loaded weapon but I've already shot myself once before and I will remember that pain for a long time. Plus, I still hope to buy a house someday and if I can start rebuilding my credit now, why not?

Thanks it's good to know this stuff. I have used Cap One in the past but they were not included in our bk. I guess if I ever want a new credit card this is probably the one to try. I still don't want or need a card but it's good to have the info if I ever do.

We wanted a card in order to start rebuilding our credit. We are going to use it to pay Utility bills each month and then completely pay it off every month. We were discharged on 7/20/09 as well and my wife was approved a week later.
                    Good luck

We also BK'd a capitol one card. It was a joint card. Dh applied online because he's the one who really needs the card for work travel expenses. (really difficult to rent a car with no card!) He was denied. I turned around a minute later and applied and was approved. Like the previous poster, I was given choices. Mine were $39 annual fee and lower interest rate or $19 annual fee and 17%. Since he'll have his expense check in time to pay the bill in full before the bill comes most of the time, we chose the second option and I was instantly approved for $1000. Card is supposed to arrive in 7-10 days. Then I need to call and see if they'll issue a card with his name so I don't have to rent the cars for him.

Received the card today (that was fast!!) and called to activate it. One of the very first questions she asked me was who would I like to add onto the account and have a card sent to so that shouldn't be a problem at all.

The only annoying part was she kept offering me all those addons like credit protection going on and on about how 1 late payment can hurt my credit score....I almost asked her if it would hurt it as badly as my bankruptcy did

Same here and it was very annoying, especially when I had to say "no" three times to each offer.

During the activation call, did the representative explain their credit steps program to you? I hadn't heard of it until I activated the card. I guess if you make your payments on time and don't go over your limit for three months they will increase your CL on your fourth statement. I don't need an increased limit as I don't plan on using the card but the increase should help raise the credit score.
