    Credit Reports Showing Bankruptcy

How soon after filing does it show up on your credit report?
Filed yesterday, so I'm wondering how long.
I want to compare my credit scores pre and post filing!

The day after I filed under public records.

Pre-BK my scores were about 480s, now post-341 they have gone up a bit to 535. As more and more accounts show as IIB the score is going up slowly. ;)
      Filed Chapter 7 4/22/2009
      341 Meeting Scheduled 5/27/2009
      Discharged 7/30/2009

It'll show up anytime and be there for 10 years if you filed a 7 or 7 years if you filed a 13.

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

It's been 9 years and 9 months of watching the public record section of my CR's. December 1 will be 10 yrs since filing Ch 7. Yippee! BK never really stopped credit flow, and haven't had a blemish since then. Latest score was 2 months ago...745. I guess I'll take that!

Here's my question...If it's Dec. 1, 2009, should I get my reports ordered on the 2nd? Then if the public record is still there, start the writing campaign?

I'd really like to start 2010 with the rear view mirror gone!

i have zero experience with that, but i would wait 'till end of december. why waste your time disputing if they'll end up doing it anyway with no effort on your part? give them a chance first. the world won't come to an end if you do.

Our Chapter 13 came off this past April (7 year mark). I waited until the end of May and ordered our 3 credit reports which gave plenty of time for updates to be made as to BK removal, etc. All credit reports came in showing all BK accounts and references removed, including the public record. We did have to remove our personal consumer statement which still indicated the reasons why we filed. Wait a few weeks beyond your 10 year mark to give everything time to update...then order.

This is something I have missed in all my reading here on this forum. What is the purpose of doing so and do you think it helped mitigate credit decisions by banks etc in that period?

If you convert from a 13 to a 7, how long does it reflect the bk?
