Has anyone had their chexsystem report cleared up after a bankrupcty discharge?

Do a search here in the forums using 'chex' - we've had several members get their Chex record cleared after their bk discharge. The process they used is described in detail.

I just filled out the dispute form yesterday and am mailing it out today. I'll let you know if it works.

I have read both on this forum and another credit forum that members have been successful getting the items removed from Chex by showing they were listed and discharged in the bankruptcy.

My Chapter 7 was discharged Oct 08. I tried to apply for a checking account through a credit union and was told that I had an old account showing that was in bankruptcy and unpaid. I requested a report from Chexsystems, and disputed the information. I asked for them to remove the negative information and let them know that the debt had been discharged in Bankruptcy. I sent in the paperwork they sent to me, plus a copy of my discharge notice and also a copy of the listing in my bankruptcy. About a month later, I received notice from Chexsystems that the listing had been removed! I verified it with my credit union, and they said my report had been cleared! Yeah! My new checking account is open and I am back to a normal life!

Thank you so much for this. Wells Fargo used a set off and bounced my house payment and a bunch of other checks. Mind you I tried to make payment arrangements with them.

Over $ 600 in fees.

Good news

I mailed my dispute form and documentation on 3/24/09 and received a letter from Chex dated 4/2/09. It says:

"Dear ________

We are in receipt of your recent correspondence, which included a copy of a document indicating that bankruptcy has been filed which affects the following information.
[Lists 4 items (2 were duplicate entries), only 3 of which I disputed because one was sent after the date of my earlier Chex report so I didn't know it was on there, but it was also included in my BK]

Please be advised that based on the bankruptcy filing, the information above has been removed from your consumer file at ChexSystems."

WOO HOO. They didn't send a new report though, which I would like to see with my own two eyes........lol. I can't believe they even removed the fourth item that I didn't even dispute. They must have just looked at the date the bank reported it, which was a month after I filed. But I didn't even send them the page of the petition showing this item.

According to the Wikipedia page about ChexSystems: "ChexSystems provides data related to how a consumer has handled deposit accounts at banking institutions. ... A consumer's ChexSystems report contains banking irregularities such as check overdrafts, unsatisfied balances, depositing fraudulent checks, or suspicious account handling that other banks have reported in the past five years."
