    Capital One Question

I applied online about a week ago and got the old we will contact you within 7-10 days. I hadn't recieved the declined letter so I callled the 800 number and was advised they need additional information. Does anyone know what this means? The office was closed and there is no why to check status on the website. Thanks.

I applied with Capital One because they kept sending me preapproved letters like twice a week. I finally gave in and applied and of course didn't hear anything for about 10 days. Then I got a denial letter from them saying I was declined because I am 14yrs old. Are they crazy!? I sent them proof of age and I never got any of their preapproved letters since. I wish you the best of luck

They are probably checking out the information you provided them to ensure it is true and correct. Creditors have done major crack downs in every area over the past few years.

Spoke with a rep this morning and she said I had to fax over proof of my ssn and address. Faxed that over and now the application is under review. Guess they wanted to make sure they turn down the right person LOL. I should get a response in 3 weeks. So much for instant approval… or decline.

I applied with Cap One about 5 months out of my discharge and I got the same response. I had to send in a copy of my ID and SS card but then they gave me a rewards card with a $3000 limit. They told my husband NO when he applied at the same time even though we filed BK jointly and had joint debts they said he should wait 45 days and re-apply.

I am hoping they have approved me. I will feel so stupid faxing over all this info to be told no. Did they make your husband verify his SSN as well? Thanks.

No, he got an instant turn down. My application said they will get back to me and then I got the request for the SS card and ID info.

I would stay away from capital one, they have in house attorneys, they do garnish wages. If for some reason you could not pay. My friend owed 2000 they got a jugement
and garnished per paycheck. all rest of her creditors just wrote off debt. My attorney told me they are worst. You have 8 yrs to be able to file for protection, so do not get in cc debt again.

Let me add that Capital One also has turned over our past due account to a collection agency after only eight three days. So they moved rather quickly. BTW initially they wanted to know if we were going to try and ask for a debt management company to reduce our total amount and they wanted to make sure we understood they didn't offer that service. They wanted "ALL their money". Greedy buggers haven't figured out yet that something is better than nothing. (That attitude also explains a great deal about GE's current stock woes.) None of the other creditors (Chase, B of A) have even begun to talk about turning the accounts over to outside collection agencies. Won't matter because we are under two weeks from filing bk now but I wanted to share how quickly Cap One moved with us. This might help someone else.
