I have a general question...Hubby and I are filing for chapter 7 bankruptcy in Jan. We are paying our attorney payments at the present time. After we do the 341 meeting, wait the 60 days, do our management class, and get our discharge at what point in time should we get our credit report to make sure that everything was correctly identified in our reports? I'm anal about my credit so it is even amazing that I'm at this point in my life, but we have a mortgage that we cant afford so instead of just dealing with foreclosure we are filing for bankruptcy and surrendering the house. I just wanna be able to start our life a new and do it the right way this time. I was going to ask too which credit card companies are best for people with issues on their credit? DH and I could really live without one however DH's family is all 500 miles away so we have to have one for a rental car at the least.

I can only speak from my experience, from what I can remember since it was March and got discharged in June. I wish I had my paperwork but its all nicely put away hopefully to be forgotten forever. I remember I did get a credit report when I went to see my attorney. I had to take copies of all my bills, credit card statements etc and they compared everything there to make sure it was accurate. I remember taking the management course online but cant remember if I had to take one before the 341 meeting and then another after or both before the 341 meeting. Anyway, I would suggest waiting until you get your discharge to request a copy of your report. Transunion and Equifax will send you your credit report and for a small fee of $7.95 send your your credit score. I wouldn't apply for a credit card unless your credit score is 620 or higher.
