    Good Account Deleted!

    #2
From what I understand, I THINK any account, good or bad is set to zero after the BK. Hence, the "fresh start." I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

But for them to out right delete an account...that's weird.

Sorry, Pinkie - this is incorrect. Accounts stay on your credit record even if included in bankruptcy. If a balance remained when you filed, then only the creditor or collector can delete their account.

Now if the balance was zero when you filed, then you can request the account be deleted. But that's not a good idea if the account is a positive one. Old positive, closed accounts can help your credit score after your bk is over.

When I said "wiped clean", what I truly meant, was "set to zero." I mis-typed.

I Just fixed my original post to reflect what I REALLY meant.

The two good accounts BOA deleted were paid off in full in 2001 & 2002. Both of these accounts were showing perfect payment history. BOA was included in my BK7 for another card that I had but they were reporting IIB for that account, so I had no reason to dispute that with TU.

I guess I am just wondering if anyone might know why TU deleted these good accounts when I never disputed them in the first place. I was very specific with TU in indicating each name and account number that was not reporting IIB and they corrected that ok. Its just they went a little to far with deleting part of my good history too when they were never asked to so.

Yes, I had one CC with BOA at 7K that was included in my BK7. BOA correctly reported the debt at $0 IIB with TU. But 4 months later when I disputed 2 (non BOA) accounts that were not reporting $0 IIB (when they should have been), my good paid off accounts with BOA were deleted. Very strange!

I have encountered so much bizarre stuff over the past few years trying to get accounts cleared up with all 3 credit reporting agencies. I have recently encountered something similar to what you have experienced and attribute it to all the disputes going back/forth with the CRAs. What you may need to do is inquire as to where those accounts went and what is going on since you did not dispute them. They should not have been removed. You can write the CRA involved enclosing a copy of a past report showing those accounts in good standing and inquire what happened to them or you can also call - a number should be listed on a recent response to your dispute. I have had many issues with Experian as to this and also other bad issues with Equifax consistently changing to correct information after a dispute but several months later going back to the old incorrect information. I cannot wait until 4/09 when all this stuff will start to be removed from our credit reports. It has been awful and I fear it may take you many months to get this resolved if you can at all.

                Best of luck to you.

TU deleted half of my total trade lines in the process of disputing 6 IIB accounts. Nothing has changed on that report since 5/13. New accounts aren't showing up either (but are on Equifax and Experian).
