    Credit Card offer

Received Offer for credit card from a company that was included in prior BK. This raises the question that if this offer was accepted then could it some how resurface the old debt and make it collectible? or does it continue to remain noncollectable?
    Filed Chap 7 : 9/11/2007
    341 Meeting : 10/10/2007
Deadline for objections: 12/10/2007 Discharged 12/11/07 Closed 12/14/07

The debt in your BK has been discharged. They can NOT came after you for money that has been discharged.

Yankee07 Also, just out of curiousity, what do you want a credit card for? Only my opinion, but whenever my bk is over, I shall never use credit cards again. 'Hub

Still in the slow process of cleaning up the reports, expect low 700 when complete.

Angelina, I'm not interested in a credit card, I was curious and suspicious when I received the offer from this company. I know three is all sorts of wierd attemps to collect debt out there today.

        Thanks for your responses.

When you receive these offers after discharge, realize that your name is probably on several mailing lists and thousands of those offers are mailed out all the time hoping some folks on those lists will bite. You could have filled out a warranty card or some other sort of card that came with a produce and your name/address automatically goes to all sorts of places. The key is your chance of acceptance when they receive your application back and check your credit is very poor, especially if the bank/lender was in your prior BK. Several lenders, such as Orchard Bank and Washington Mutual, are BK friendly and scan credit reports for those in BK and send out initial offers. There are also the lenders such as Aspire that offer a $300 credit limit and when you join you actually end up with maybe $50 of that limit available after all the initial fees and have to pay all sorts of monthly fees thereafter, even without a balance.

Your old debt cannot resurface for collection once discharged. If it does, immediately contact the attorney who handled your BK.

              AngelinaCatHub,

How will you rebuild your credit if you don't ever get another credit card? Just curious, I'm not discharged yet but even my attorney said to get a card to start rebuilding, I'm not in a hurry to get another credit card, but I think one day I might need credit again, like to buy a house in a few years so I figure I have to do something to rebuild.
