    This Stinks.....

I am so mad! We did not file on my Victorias Secret Card it had a Zero balance when we filed. Our case was discharged in Feb. 2008 and it survived the bankruptcy. In April I used it to help rebuild our credit. I only put $50 on it and then I paid it off the next month. Then in May I put about $30 on it and I went online today to pay that balance off and they had closed the account. I called the number they had on there and they said yes it was closed but they would take off the included in bankruptcy that they were going to put on our credit reports. Prior to all of this they had increased my credit limit etc

It just makes me mad that it was the card that survived and I was hoping to use it to help rebuild my credit and now I am just like my husband with ZERO cards! Plus they raised my limit after all of the bankruptcy stuff and I have used it twice and paid it off twice. I wasn't even late on it! How frustrating!

Sometimes zero balance cards make it, sometimes they don't. Victoria's Secret I believe is through WFNNB; if you had anything in your filing associated with them, there is your main reason for it being closed out. However, something as simple as them viewing your credit report and seeing the BK would cause them to close it out. Since you did use it shortly thereafter, they probably pulled your credit to offer you an increase and saw the BK.

I have a lot of cards at zero balance, and if they don't make I will be fine. I would rather be w/out my debt than to have the debt and the zero balance cards.

I know I mean if it had been cancelled in the beginning I would have had no problem either. It just sucks because I have had it for a long time and I was hoping that it would help me to rebuild my credit since it had survived. That was all I meant by it. I mean if it's cancelled....it's cancelled...it would have just been nice to have had that card to help rebuild credit instead of having to take out a new card sometime down the road.

I know many of mine probably won't survive, and I have 20+ yrs on a few.

That's a bummer, but you know the credit card companies... soon your mailbox will be full of pre-approval offers. Besides, using a card properly will rebuild your credit score but Ch. 7 will be on the report for a long time to come. You have plenty of time to rebuild your credit, sadly.

DH would probably be secretly happy if that one survived. Like you it has 0 balance. He's always said I have no limit there as far as he's concerned. Help is right though, you do have plenty of time to rebuild slowly. I just signed up for the credit watch program through Costco. It says after I file BK, my credit will go down 49 pts. Wonder how accurate that is? My score was in the mid to high 600's for the three companies. We will have the cars and Student loans to help rebuild.

FreshStart32: AAhhh, errrr, let’s see, Victoria Secrets??? Let’s see if Mom AngelinaCat is around and we can discuss this errr situation.

JUST KIDDING, but really, if you get out of debt now, let it rest awhile. DON’T get used to using cards too soon. At my age, I shall only use my debit card to get a reservation but pay in cash. I’m done with credit. I haven’t even finished my 7 and I have some problems to date, but I am already getting bunches of junk credit card offers. Don’t fret, you don’t have a REAL problem. ‘Hub.
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

I hope I don't get a lot of junk mail. I am opted out on 2 of the CRA's.

I have one too, and a dell, learner's and JC Pennys that I haven't used in years, I really don't care it they close it, I really would like to keep my Kohls but since I'm including 2 chase cards in my bankruptcy I'm sure that won't happen.
