How long does it take for score to raise?

I have heard that after doing disputes or paying off bills, etc.. making any changes.. that your score is not updated until the first of the month following. That in fact, scores are only updated on the first of every month. Is that true?

I ask because both my husband and I have disputed and had multiple items deleted from our CR's.. and I would like to see how our scores have changed, if at all. My dispute was just completed over the weekend, but my husband's was done about a month ago. I don't want to waste time ordering scores if they haven't been updated yet.

Anyone know how often they are updated?

I used true credit and pull my scores at least 3 times a week. Sometimes I get a little obsessed and pull them daily. I see changes at random times....both up and down.

For example, I have one credit card that we charge almost everything on (saving up carnival seamile points) and then I pay it down every two weeks when I get paid. Sometimes the balance can get up to $2000. If that shows up on the report I will see my score drop by 10 points or so.

I have had dispute results come via email from equifax and noticed a score increase the same day. It was a 30 point change after 5 accts were deleted.

So in answer to your question, I think it's real time....or at least near real time.

REALLY?!? Wow!!! Mine have not budged one bit since discharge! Since then, I have had several disputed items corrected, got a credit card which I pay in full each month and a car loan that is paid on time! We have no late payments on anything since discharge. What the heck is going on??? I mean literally, my scores haven't changed one single point! Like you, I am using truecredit....what gives?

This might be a stupid question, but are you sure you are updating your scores? They should have changed many times since your BK....Mine change sometimes when I've done nothing.

Paying off debt does bring your score up.

Disputing items that result in being deleted is good if the accounts aren't old. The older they are the more your credit history will change, which can result in your score lowering.

Scores change often, not once a month.

And the only place to see your true fico scores is Myfico, the other places are not real scores.

Well, my truecredit scores haven't changed...at all. I realize that they are not FICO, but I imagine that they should be increasing along with the FICO. The numbers are EXACTLY the same as the day of discharge...EXACTLY! Of interest, though....my husbands FAKO's are higher than mine, across the board. But when we were purchasing our vehicle, the finance manager ran our credit stuff, and lo-and-behold, my FICO score was higher than my husbands! Seems like there's really no rhyme or reason to the scores at all. My FICO was 100+ points higher than my FAKO's.

On the right-hand side of your Truecrdit report (the credit report itself, not the score tab), there is an 'update' link. Have you clicked on that??
I have been disputing things, and have seen minor changes in the FAKO score.

                  Thanks BK2008 and CindyLou!!!

I updated, and lo-and-behold, my FAKO scores are about 70-100 points higher now. I understand that they aren't FICO, but it's good to see them headed in the right direction anyways. I'm thinking about myfico.com's monitoring service...not sure yet.

                  Thanks again!

I use CreditKeeper- which I like so far. I have gone from a low of 549 to a score of 629 now in about 2 months. I havent disputed anything yet- my discharge is due soon and I will wait until then. I saw a good jump in the score when our new car loan started reporting.

I am fico obsessed now. I do tru credit daily, I have the score watch from myfico.com and I signed up for equifax gold and experian's product as well. I like experian the least, equifax gold is ok but only for equifax and tru credit is the best I think for the monthly fee. Just remember that the scores are not the real ones. I am done pulling myfico scores for now but I am up 100 points on equifax, about 40 on experian (they hate me) and 80 on transunion. Not even discharged yet but will be in Jan 09. Can't wait.

Is the fico score watch for all three scores?
