Did I make a mistake

CHP 7 should be done on May 19. Nothing updated in Pacer since Apr 11. My wife received an offer from Orchard Bank for a CC with a yearly fee of 39. I signed her up since I figured this would give us an opportunity to rebuild our credit. IS this OK or should we have waited until after discharge. BTW I did not get the same offer and I did not see a place to add me as a card holder so this will only help her credit correct.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I did not think we could incur any new credit/debt until our BK case was discharged. Maybe I imagined this......who knows?

If you filed alone, you are probably okay...I say probably because I don't know the details of your case.... If you filed with your wife, then, yes, it was a mistake that could cause you your discharge but it is also possible that it will slip through the cracks--all you can do now is hold your breath and wait.

the incurring of new debt only applies in chap13, where you need permission. orchard takes their sweet time approving, i just got mine, so it may be after the 19th before they approve it anyway and send the card.
