My wife and I were discharged 2/29/08. I immediately went to work correcting errors on our credit reports.
I joined Credit Keeper (the first month is free) just to have access to all our reports side-by-side. I founds several errors (about 15 total). Accounts were showing not IIB, in Ch. 13, instead of 7, etc.
I know the preferred method is to send certified letters, but I thought I might as well start with submitting an online dispute and printing a copy of the request first. I can always send letters.
Yesterday I pulled my updated credit reports. I'm happy to report that after disputing everything online, only ONE error remains. I may have to send a letter for that one.
Why not try to save the certified letter fees and dispute online first?
PLEASE NOTE: I am not a lawyer. Bankruptcy may or may not be a best scenario for you. It depends on your situation. You may assume my advice is totally useless (my wife does, and she’s probably right). Talk to an experienced bankruptcy attorney (or three) in your jurisdiction for legal advice.
