    What else should I do?

Filed for Chapter 7 last year and it closed in August. I checked my FICO scores for the three bureaus and they are as follows:
Experian--647, Transunion--651, Equifax--647. I have recently applied and received 2 credit cards in order to rebuild credit scores. That has helped but is there anything else I can do? These scores are poor and I want to refinance my home in August after a year out of BK.

These scores arent horrible... Mine are lower right now and I was discharged Ch. 13... 18months ago! I cant seem to figure out the right formula... I am a homeowner, new lines of credit open, and I've been disputing the errors on my report. I am skeptical though... but only time will tell, I guess.

Time is the best cure...a couple things:

            1. Is your utilization low on your credit cards? Best to keep a 1-5% utl rate versus never using them.

            2. Does the CCs you have report to all three credit agencies? You said you have 2 CC; if that is all you have, apply for 1-2 more and research which ones report to all three. Don't go overboard with this! Think of credit cards as tools for rebuilding credit.

            3. Look at your credit report and look for old accounts that either are reporting or closed within last 5 years (not the ones included in BK, though!). Call them up and ask them to re-issue you a card through that account. I revived two accounts that I had 9 years of history with each that were reporting as "not active". Some said "we'll have to re-run your credit to issue you a card"...I just politely stated no thanks.

            4. Do you have a mix of credit? Agencies like diverse accounts which have some credit cards and some revolving loans such as home and auto loans.

            5. Have you started the dispute process? Look for errors in your credit report (there normally is) and ask for deletion. Probably want to do your research on this one, though.

You have decent scores for being BK last year. You must have had a good credit history prior to BK. The hard part of rebuilding credit is ensuring you don't get into trouble again!! Good luck!!!
