Tradewiz - What kind of items did Lexington get off your report? Was it only items you could have done yourself? The 3 major pieces I see are these:

    1) The public record of bk (sounds very difficult if impossible to remove)

    2) The items showing with balances, maybe even saying "charge off", which should be zero balance and "included in bk"

    3) Items showing past due, because they were past due prior to the bk filing. Have you been successful getting any of these deleted?

Please share some of your details on the above to help others, including me.

    Thanks.

I initially just challenged all negative items as inaccurate. I got mixed results. Some came back verfied. Others got deleted.

After over a year. I went ahead and just made sure my file is current that all negatives are IIB status with 0 balances.

Yes, but you mentioned that you used Lexington Law for 6 months. What exactly did they get deleted for you? Anything that you couldn't have done yourself? It doesn't sound like it.

I am asking, as it would be good to have someone with actual experience with Lexington so we can hopefully avoid going down that expensive route if the results are something we can do ourselves.......

I'm with Boscoe if you have info that can help us that would be great! I don't have the $ to hire Lexington although I've considered it since I'm running into road blocks trying to get everything updated myself. You have great scores, I can only hope what I'm doing will pay off sooner than later although I'm sure time will be the best correction for my scores. Any info of what Lexington did for you will be great. Congrats on the scores its where we all want to be!

Sara - did you get your discharge yet? I am on track to receive mine in early/mid October. But I started cleaning up the credit reports already. I disputed anything that showed a balance or did not show IIB that should be. All 3 cra's are due to report back by 9/13. Assuming they all fix what they are supposed to, I will only have the mtg, my car, and my wife's car showing balances. We are keeping all.

Once this is done, I will finally ask for a credit score. I did not want to do so before, as it would have been inaccurate. I will let you know what the scores are. I plan to do all of this withing the next 2-3 weeks.

Let me know what yours are and where you are in the process. While we do this, it hopefully will help others too.

Lexington can be hit or miss. In the beginning thinks were being deleted at the rate of 4 to 6 items at a time . Was a happy camper! Then a few months pasted by and it all stopped. Everything came back verified and it was very discouraging. I used them for 9 months before I gave them up. I had chargeoffs and late trade lines and 2 repo's removed by them in the start. After that I started doing it on my own and got mixed results also. Then moved on to my current issue and contacting the OC's about reporting lost status's after my discharge.

If you don't have the time to repair your credit then use Lexington. There $39.00 a month with a $99.00 set up fee.

                Hi Boscoe,

I did like you and started before my discharge. I was discharged on 8/14/07 and closed the next day 8/15/07. I was actually pulling my FAKO scores before at truecredit.com until I realized that only the FICO count and if you're going to buy a car I learned there is actually an auto FICO as well that only dealers get, no way to buy it or anything. Anyway, there was a big difference in my FAKO and FICO scores

                TU FAKO - 591 - FICO - 502
                EX: FAKO - 547 FICO - 505
                EQ: FAKO - 587 - FICO - 541 (just upgraded was 529 initially)

Yeah, I have a long way to go but I still gotta get CW to report properly on TU and EX credit report. Faxed and mailed another copy of my Chapt 7 petition schedule D & F showing all creditors. it's my second time doing it so I still have to wait to see what happens. Nothing has worked so far but we shall see. All of a sudden EQ just reported it and i had not even faxed or mailed out anything? It's crazy.
Anyway, hope it helps. I might try Lexington, I think it can help and right now I really don't have the time to do it all myself. Working fulltime and full time student makes for a long day and night. Keep me posted on when you discharge and send me your scores, mine post bk was lower so I won't complain.

I just applied for Capital One and HSBC. They both said I was approved but am waiting on the info to come in the mail to see the credit line etc. I too have been disputing things hoping to clean things up. Lexington Law sounds pretty good. $39 a month isn't too bad for maybe 3 months to see what they can do. Anyone have any idea on which day(s) of the month the credit bureaus update or do they update on an ongoing basis throughout the month?

Sara - will do. Where did you get your FICO and FAKO scores from? Just trying to find the most cost effective way of getting my baseline scores that I will be starting with. I was considering signing up for a credit monitoring service to get all 3 FAKO's and then in a month or so, running the FICO's to compare. That is really bad if they are running so far apart. The difference between 500 and 580 is huge!

Stay away from the FAKO monitoring. There a complete waste of time. Every six months purchase your credit score from all three CBR's. Prices range from $5.95 to $8.95 per score.

I feel your pain Sarah. I think that's my problem with establishing credit is that my scores are still in the 500's like yours. I haven't made a late payment on any of my cards in two years and I still get denied for credit alot of times. Then I read post where folks who have been out of bankruptcy a shorter time than I and they are getting $8000.00 credit limits. I don't understand.

Often these filers who are getting better credit offers are older and have long credit histories that include multiple paid off loans and credit cards. These will pull scores up faster after bankruptcy.

Have you taken a hard look at all three of your credit reports to see if there are inaccuracies or outright errors that are keeping your scores down? If there are, you can challenge these and get them corrected. That can raise your scores significantly.

did I just read correctly that truecredit gives you FAKO scores and they aren't the ones that count? how can they call themselves TRUEcredit??

Please remember the more you apply for credit it will effect your chance of getting credit as well. CC companies frown on multiple credit pulls, just wait at least 6 months plus before you try to seek more credit.
