Car Dealers use an industry specific weighted Credit Model. Your "Auto Buying" FICO is weighted based on past performance with car loans.

If you've owned cars and always paid as agreed in the past, your "Auto Buying" FICO will probably be higher than your real life FICO.

Lots of different types of Lenders do the same sort of thing. Use an Industry Specific Model to weight your Credit Scores based on past performance with like purchases/loans.

So, does that mean lenders like FMCC and GMAC and the likes use the same scoring model? We've got really good auto payment history so I'm hoping maybe that will help us to get a decent rate, although our actual FICOs are horrible!
