Capital One Mastercard Checks all three CRA!!

Just applied for C1 2 weeks ago. Got the typical "send you a letter in 10 days" reply. Well, today, a card for each of us came in the mail. Seperate accounts. $500 limits; 19 yearly fee; 14.9% fixed interest. Not too bad, but I wasn't too happy about them pulling an inquiry from all three!!!! Ok, well now GOODBYE first premier. My year is up and the 48 fee came through on the bill in todays mail.

Honestly, the inpact of inquiries on credit reports is way over-rated. Also, why wouldn't you expect them to pull you credit, after all, you applied for it, what did you expect them to do?

Cap One does check all 3, its well known. However, they are still one of the best sub-prime lenders. I can't think of any other massive company that is so willing to lend to those with bk, on decent terms.

They also refuse to report your credit limit to the CRA's - instead showing your HIGHEST BALANCE as the limit. In essence they make you look like your maxed out unless you PIF every single month.

It drags your score down a bit because it inflates your utilization figures.

Cap 1 has been and is being sued over this every day. Don't be surprised if your credit scrore actually goes down a bit after having Cap 1 for a while.

Hey guys, try Juniper and GE Money Bank.
I was discharged and closed 3/1/2006 and receieved NO FEE cards from both last month. GE gave me a $2,000 limit and Juniper gave me a $500 limit.

But you're supposed to pif anyways!

                True! Very true!

However, just because you PIF every month doesn't mean they are going to report a 0 balance. What they report is a snapshot of your account on they day they report. They might report today and you PIF tomorrow - meaning your credit report will show a balance until the next time they report.

Capital One is one of the fastest and most reliable to report to all 3 bureaus, and as far as I know they report near the beginning of each billing cycle, which begins on your payment due date...

I usually max mine ($500) each month and pif, and it has stayed as $0 on my credit reports except the 1 or 2 times I did not pif

I was afraid to go for Cap 1

They were listed on my bk and I do not want to have them hook up my bankruptcyed debt to a new card?

Oh I'm far from perfect... I charged up $2,800 this year on my JFCU card, buying lots and lots of necessities that I haven't had for years... Then I transferred that balance from the 7.5% card to a 5.9% balance transfer onto my circuit city card... LOL! 8 months out of bk and I'm already working the system. I pay the rest of my cards in full tho, and plan to pay the one balance off by tax return time this winter.

                          oops! LOL

Well, still, you've done well with your re-building efforts. Your credit scores look decent and you've moved past the deep sub prime credit cards.

I haven't applied for credit yet. I don't know what I'm waiting for, except I really don't want a card. But I do know we'll need to get a car loan in the next two years so re-building at this point would help me in the near future.

To be honest, I'm AFRAID to get a credit card. Really afraid. I suppose at this point, that is a healthy fear.
