..... that is good news, any positive changes in your credit history is something to look forward to!! If your attorney does not have a copy, which he should, then you can get it from the courthouse.

You can also get a PACER account and print the discharge right from your computer.

I did that the day of my discharge before I even received the Court's mailing or my Lawyer's mailing.

If your credit report is already in the toilet because you didn't dispute the inacurraces yet. Then why are you so excited that it's in one year from now? How is that good news now?

Like I said before your questions are nothing new here. You still can't heed good advise to read the stickys in this forum already.

Tradwiz, not for nothing but we are all here for a reason and thats bankruptcy, if you going to just put down people like me over something like this then you should'nt be here.

It wasn't easy enough to go bankrupt let alone trying to recuperate from the storm. I just want to get my credit back to average, and if it takes 1,2,3 or more years i am willing to start now then never and i come here to get some quality advice from others who were probably in the same boat as me.

So i ask you please respect me i am new and i will try to follow the rhythm of things here as i will probably be posting frequently. Thanks to all the others who are helping me, i really appreciate it.

                Feel the vibe whatsup man?

I'm in the same boat, although I'm crawling out.

I just turned 21, my BK7 was discharged earlier this year when I was 20, but I was fully capable of filling when I was 19. That's how fast it took me to rack up $25,000 in debt.

After bankruptcy, my scores were hovering under 500. I cleaned up my report, got everything to say what I wanted it to say, and my scores jumped to 601, 582, and the third I haven't checked yet. I have one credit card from First Premier (and yes everyone I know, I KNOW!) but it's the only one I could get.
TIP: DO NOT APPLY FOR MORE CREDIT CARDS YOU WILL NOT GET THEM. I'VE COME TO THAT CONCLUSION.

As far as job's go, here's what I can tell you:

Before I filed, I got a job at the credit service center for the now defunct MAY department stores. My scores at that time were probably low 500's with multiple (probably 10 or 15) bad accounts. They still gave me a job, they never even brought it up. I was working in a place where I was verifying internet orders...calling banks to verify credit card numbers and billing addresses for orders placed over the internet.

THEN, After I filed I started working at a high end museum with very valuable collections...They ran I credit check and still gave me a job.

Both times, I was almost convinced I wouldn't be hired...

                good luck man

Wow. This is a really negative attitude to have!

You CAN rebuild your credit, and you CAN ask for AND RECEIVE new credit cards!

I was young when I filed too, but now I am back on my feet with credit scores up to a better place, and my report is slowly getting cleaned up. Don't give up hope!

i went bankrupt in October 05 before the new law was coming in, i got discharged of a car loan repo of 5k,credit card debt of 2k, and various
accounts for about 2k. i was 19 at the time i went bankrupt which was very depressing to know that my credit has been shot in the head.i was lucky to have a good attorney, one of the best i might say in new york, his father is a trustee so what more can you ask for.

right now after a yr i have got my credit report and it is horrendous, my credit score for experian is 491, there is countless amount of errors cause i discharged 90% of the debts on it, the only one that remains is this bill from my old university which i though the state would pay now im stuck with a 650 dollar bill. but i disupted alot of info its only been 2 weeks, i hope that with the updates on the credit report that my score will rise.

im worried because at 20 i have to get my credit polished up for the time im going after jobsthat require good credit so im very worried, i need some advice on rebuilding credit, as far as it goes i got a New millenium secured card with 300 dollar limit i put down.im gonna make a deal with the one i own 650 for. can someone give me insight, experiences and such im hoping that in 3-4 yrs my credit can be back to at least average i know that my bankruptcy will be on my record for a long time but i just want to get my score back up to average.

                    thanks
feelthevibe - Once you get your balances to zero and to show included in BK, begin re-establishing credit by oepning up at least one credit card account. You will find that you will begin to get offers from all types of credit card companies as long as you have not opted out of with the credit bureaus. Consider the offers carefully. Typically the longer you hold out the better the offers get. You don't want to over utilize the credit card. In other words try to keep your balance(s) under 25% or so of your credit line.

tinroofrusted, I have applied for numerous cards and it has done nothing but hurt my credit. I never said I couldn't rebuild, i'm simply saying do not go crazy like I did and apply for every single card you could find.

                        Nope.

                        That much is true.

You could dispute some of the inquiries and get your scores up though, even if they were permissable.... just a thought!
