    Credit Repair

Sorry if there's another thread out there like this one, maybe someone can just direct me in the right place, but yeah.

This last September we were a year past discharge. We took a look at our credit reports, and disputed quite a few things that were reported inaccurately. Then we took another look, and some of its right, and some is not. And the more we're looking at our reports, we're noticing more things wrong. My husband just wants to take the quick route, and pay someone to do it for us. A credit repair company. And frankly, I don't feel like doing it all myself either. Is there a legit company out there that someone reccomends?

I have been using Lexington for the past 6 months. Very happy with the basic service of 39.99. The process is a little slow, so plan to pay them for at least a year to 18 months. It all things you can really do for yourself, but I know me and I just woudn't do it. But they are very easy to work with, you can ALWAYS get someone on the phone immediately to answer questions, and they have good follow up and follow through!! Good luck!

Hmmm yeah we're just wanting someone, a company thats real, and not a scam program. Is there a shorter program out there that anyone knows of? We'll check out Lexington. Thanks Cindy.

Its not about the program being shorter. No one can repair your credit quickly. If they say they can then it is a scam!! The reason it takes so long is that they dispute the item then the CCA has 30 days to respond to that dispute. So, once that cycle is complete and the new report is received they dispute another group of items. It just takes time. But you can do it yourself. There is a section on here with forms and letters. Good luck

I used Lexington right after my discharge for 6 months. After that I really didn't see the results like I did. So I started clearing it all up after June and it's really made a huge difference. All my accounts are IIB on every CBR. Also, I was able to remove half of the IIB accounts. So you can do ti if you have the time and patience.

            tradewiz50,

Are you saying that you used them for 6 months and didn't see the results you wanted, so you did it yourself?

How did you get some of your IBB's off of your reports?

I have lexington doing mine because I have SOOOO many creditors, but I have handled my husbands on my own. I have succeded in COMPLETELY cleaning up his transunion. It has absolutely not trace of his BK inlcuding the BK itself! I also had the BK taken off of Equifax! Don't ask me how it happened, but it did! I disputed the date filed on the BK and it fell off. I just checked his 3-1 yesterday and saw this. I might cancel lexington and do mine on my own now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cindy--Can you cancel Lexington at any time? And what about EQ and EX? Did you completely clean up those two or just TU so far? Also, if your birth year, work place or address is wrong, or anything in the history, do we disupte that too? Do we just add that to the items to correct or to remove?

Don't pay anyone. You're paying them to do what anyone has to do... Which is continue disputing until its fixed, which you can do yourself for free. I'd say on average most of us have had to go back and dispute things 3-4 times over to get things fixed. Free of charge.

Trans Union was the easiest for me. Experian was the next easiest. I'm still doing battle with Equifax on 2 trade lines.

Dispute any innaccuracy with any trade line!
Next step if they verify as it being accurate go after the creditor directly.

That's impressive Tradewiz - so you did more for your clean up than the service.........I wasn't planning on getting credit, but I guess I should pull the report and do some clean up.

Yes I did more on my own then they did for me. Yeah pull your reports make sure all trade lines that were in your BK show IIB and zero balances first. Then dispute any inaccuracy you see. Lastly, you can then start applying for credit to re-establish yourself.

I Am still trying to get my credit reports correct ..
My husband 's judgement I cannot get to report IIB ... I had disputed it all under Not mine... But how do I now try to dispute IIB ? Won't the credit bureaus say I thought it was not yours? I had disputed the BK to so now what?

You can dispute anything you want. Its possible you thought it wasn't yours. They veified it, then you realized it was...and now its incorrect. Dispute away!
