Credit Cards bought/transferred to other CC companies

This isn't really a post-BK question; just a general credit report question.

I had one Visa credit card go from something like First Card to First USA Bank to Bank One to Chase.

How should this show up on my credit report. It looks like I'm being penalized 4 times for the same debt.

    Penalized?

Penalized for transferring from card to the next? The thing about transferring, if you read the fine print, you have so many months to pay off that transfer, and if you do not reach payment in full by the time limit, it goes back to charging you all those funky fees. If you've transferred monies from one card to the next, I should hope you cut up that one card you transferred money from (but I'm one to talk)? Transfers from one card to the next are also considered cash advances, at least from one of my NFCU cards, it stated on one of my statements (this is considered a cash advance). Watch these sneaky creditors, and they seem to be getting more sneakier because they figured they go one up on us since the new laws! Just my opinion, my idea and my thoughts. How knowledgeable I am, not very but I do alot of reading

I never transferred any money. Each company bought out the preceding company--seems like Chase wants to own the world now! I just don't think the same credit history should be allowed to show up 3 times on my credit history since it is all for one debt.

We started out like that, Anon. Several different Creditors. But with mergers and aquisitions, we wound up with all our CC's on 3 banks.

Providian bowed out. MBNA bowed out. First USA bowed out. Can't remember who all so that our CC's dwindled down to being with,.........

          Chase, BOA, and Citi.

On our Credit Reports, the CC's show as if we were with Chase, BOA, or Citi the whole time. The original open dates show on each LOC.

So I don't think, if your LOC's were bought and transferred by the banks, that it will look like 4 different accts. At least that was the case for us.
