I pulled the trigger on two Apps.
Let me start off by saying I never knew about this site. I've been browsing it all morning. There's tons of great info here specifically for us BK'ers. I've been a member of CB for a long time but it seems that site is not as active as it use to be. Anyhow, I'm glad to be here and reading all the stories.
With that, let me start from the beginning. I have a job that requires travel. I asked my attorney to inquire with the trustee about a secured card. Attorney came back and said go ahead. I applied with my CU. No credit check required. Plunked down 2500. That was last year in November. Got my order of discharge last week. All my CRA updated with discharged. About a month ago Venmo said I was pre-approved for their visa card but I knew I wasn't discharged yet, so I waited. Looked into it and noticed it was by Synchrony. I burned them bad in my 13. But researched it and unfortunately there was almost nothing relating to my situation. So yesterday afternoon, I was like, let's do it and find out. Pulled the trigger all the way through and then the proverbial wait. BAM!! APPROVED! 11K! I was surprised needles to say.
Then I sat there and I had already been doing the prequel with capital one since two years ago. It was always coming back unable to a bankruptcy. I knew my discharge was in on Wednesday when the site came back with available offers. I went to check my credit monitoring sites and sure enough, they were all reporting discharged. I had been thinking of the Venture card. Kept eyeing that card. I then said, let's hit it. Again, filled all my info for the Venture card and then the wait again. This one was taking longer. I'm like dang. I messed up. All I said to myself was oh well. I did burn them too for mid double digits. Oh well. BAM!! APPROVED, 10K!
And just like that, I sat there and was in awe saying to myself, that was nuts!
I'm stopping there for at least the next 6 to 8 months now. I've learned the biggest thing about bouncing back is DISCIPLINE. You gotta have discipline or at least know where to stop.
Good luck to all on your discharge or future discharges. There is hope for all.
