Just an update on my Target Red Card. It has been less than a year and I just got a letter saying they are upgrading my Red Card with a $200 limit to a Target Visa with a $4,000 limit. I didn't ask them for a limit increase or anything, so I was shocked and very happy! Target is really a great card for rebuilding.

when you initially applied, did you apply for redcard only or did you apply for visa and they gave you the redcard?

I think I applied for the Visa, but can't say for sure.

I HAD a Target Visa starting off with $4500, but I closed it as soon as I got it! This was before I filed. I'm glad I did cuz I would of blown that up too!

              target upgrade

I had a redcard before BK that I never used at all. As a matter of fact I had forgotten about it entirely. Then, when I started cleaning up my CR after the BK I noticed my target account was still active - so I called and asked for a new card. I used it a little, but then go irritated at the $200 limit and put it in my drawer. That was about a year ago. Sudenly a few days ago I got a letter saying they were mailing me a visa (or mastercard - can't remember).

Congrats on the Target card. I have a question. Is it true that credit scores can go up after the discharge? I was just wondering since right now mine seem to be the same as before and of course everything isn't off yet. I also foreclosed on my house so I was just wondering will my scores plummet quickly or will they go up a bit first? I've heard both so just wanted to hear from someone who will know.

                Thanks,
                Sara

<<my hubby was approved for the reg Target card and his name is night next to mine on our BK papers>>

We regularly compare credit card offers, and my husband gets offers more often, with lower interest rates and higher limits. I'm sure they'd never admit it's a male/female thing, but I would be very surprised if that didn't figure into their decisions, as males still have more earning power.

I had a Target Card before I filed Bk, with a $4500 limit. Still being the gambler I am, I received the card but BELIEVE IT or NOT. I shredded it and called them to cancel the card!

No more credit cards for me. Think I'll stick with my secured limit!

The reason I had kept getting denied for Target was I didn't have a home phone #. I put my mom's down & I got the "store" card. Think the credit line is $200. But that's fine.

I'm excited because we do have the SUPER Targets in Sarasota

Actually in our houshold it is the opposite. I get the better cc offers. We figure mabey my credit score is slightly better than his. We have been married for over 7 years so would assume most of our credit report looks rather similar. I do have a longer history of good payments prior to BK. I make slightly more than him (though not much). He has a bigger student loan payment (effecting income/debt ratio). Most of our discharged debt was in both our names. But who knows.

I had a Target card that was charged off about 5 years ago. Anybody know if I will be banned for life because of this?

I totally agree. My sister got pre-approved for a Target card several months ago and after three months of on-time payments her credit limit was increased from 200 to 500 bucks.

Not sure when, or how much time has to pass, but I have been reading on it, and it seems they'll do this at one point or another, AND they'll keep raising those credit limits!
This is true. they did the same thing with me. I never even use that card and it is now a Visa. They gave me 2000 right away when I bought something but keep upping the limit.
I hope they don't shoot me like their little red bullseye logo when I go to the gallows. I read where someone had luck with them and they never cancelled them post BK.

Hey, just wanted to let you know it is pretty much random. I use to work with Sacks Fifth Ave credit (the company that did it 10 years ago anyway). Different people look at your scores. They choose if you get more credit or not by looking at a screen. We declined a prince one time because he was not making timely payments and he had a very large credit limit already.
