Buying a house after ch 13 discharge, VA loans

Our case is finally closed although we are still awaiting discharge (I guess this can take up to 3 more months). We are in desperate need to move before the next academic year starts as our son will be entering First grade. We live in the city and the district is not the best.

How soon can we buy a house and/or how difficult will it be? My husband is in the military, can we get a VA loan too?

    Thanks.

Getting a mortgage while in a Chapter 13, or after finishing a Chapter 13 is pretty straightforward. Look to an FHA loan. They provide them to Chapter 13 debtors so long as they are current on payments for at least one year and haven't had a foreclosure (even surrendered in Bankruptcy) for at least 3 years.

I don't know about VA guidelines, so you'd have to check with them.

You probably meant that your Plan was completed, but your case isn't closed yet.
    Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
Status: (Auto) Discharged and Closed! 5/10
