    FHA question

When reading about the FHA program, it states that a mortgage can be considered after one year if the cause was medical. How can they know or prove it, would it required additional documentation on my part as well as my doctors?

Bk is public information. Your debts and case can be viewed by anyone as to all your debts, assets, etc. If the cause was medical, it would be obvious if there was a lot of medical debt discharged. They would probably ask for a copy of your creditor matrix, discharge, etc. and/or something from your attorney if they needed verification.

We were discharged 3-26-08 from our Chapter 7. We had quite a bit of medical debt included in the BK. None of it has ever appeared on our credit report. It is on our matrix but I have never seen a medical bill reported negative or positive.Just not at all. We do have a stmt on our cr.reports stating we had a medical situation that led to BK. I also have tons of documentation from the doctor, the hospital, the lab etc... on my condition. I plan to bring out all the clinical paperwork when we try FHA in the future.
      Hope this was helpful.

The lender will ask for a copy of your Schedule F which shows your unsecured creditors, vis a vis, medical bills.

This leads me to another question...I used CCs to pay for medication for a ongoing chronic condition. Would that change anything? I mean, yes, I racked up medical bills that I put on CC and I did have pi$$ poor money management, but for the most part my medical condition lead to my downfall. I don't have the CC statements anymore, so would some kind of documentation from my DR been enough?

Probably something from your doctor and/or your attorney would suffice in this situation. You can always obtain past information/charges from your old discharged credit accounts if it comes down to that or the medical facilities/doctors would have paid bills from payments from your credit card lenders. You do have back up you can obtain if you really need it.

Thanks. Just wasn't sure how I could prove my situation was medical. Ya know, the brain fog that sets in sometimes.
