    Prestige Financial

Have any of you dealt with them? Is so should I even talk to them about a car loan? We went to a dealership oh I guess about 2 months ago. They told us then that they could not finance us. Well the car salesman called last night to see if we were still looking, because he was pretty sure he could get us approved through prestige financial. I see that they are a sub prime lender like americredit is. I have read the good, the bad and the ugly about them. I thought I would try here to see if anyone here has had experience with them or knows someone that has. If I do not like what I read about them, then I will just tell the salesman thanks but no thanks.

Hey, doesn't look good from the research I did.

During the course of my loan Prestige Financial engaged in many forms of harassment in their collection efforts. Many times I received threatening calls one to two days before my payment was even due. On the occasions I was late I tried to call Prestige to let them know when I would be able to make...

Did you try Capital One, I can't remember. They would be the best as far as a reputible company. I can't stand them, but they would be better than a sub-prime type or a tote the note type place.

Hey, that board is more about their collections practices.....but I found this particularly horrible sounding. This is a quote from the board:

"I have made 11 payments on my car, not ONCE late, not even a day late. Every time I am early, every time I pay over the amount due. I got a call from them yesterday asking about my payment, which by the way was NOT due yet. I told him he was being very rude to call about my payment when I have never even shown them I wouldn't pay. He said I should be grateful to them for lending me the money to buy my new car. I am lost, what kind of customer service are these people practicing? If anything they should be happy to have customers, especially with the economy the way it is, and then to harass a good customer?? I am going to trade my car in next month and not finance through this company ever again. Do they really believe they are the only finance company? I also registered a complaint with the BBB, more should, they have no right to treat people this way."

I won't deal with a company bugging me before something is even due. If this is how they operate, then I do not want any part of it. I will just keep on looking. I am not sure with cap one. They have told us conflicting stories. One day they say we are approved, and then we get a letter in the mail saying that we're not approved. My husband has 2 CC's with cap one that are in good standing. Heck he hasn't even used one yet. I told him to charge dinner or something on it when he's out of town working, and pay it off when the payment is due. I just want a starter car for now, so that I can get back and forth. My son starts night school next month, and I must take him and pick him up. I am so irritated with my saturn right now, that I am ready to burn it to the ground. Well I won't literally do that, but I am just tired of putting money into it only to have the problem continue. I am almost to the point to where if this next fix doesn't work, the next step is rebuilding the entire engine. I am just not putting money like that into the car. I found a 2010 Chevy HHR for $11,000 with low miles on it. I'll take it if I can find financing. I could even pay something that cheap off in 2-3 yrs vs 6.

Call Capital One and explain, maybe talking to a human being with a brain (if you can find one over there) will help. By the way, put the Saturn in the paper or something I am sure someone who is handy with cars will pay something for it to fix it up and use or re-sell. You can apply that towards the car as a part of your down payment.

That's what I am going to do if this last attempt to fix it, does not work. My husband works out of town with his company, so I have to wait until tomorrow night or Sat. for him to get the part. Since the loan was applied for only in his name, I will have him call them up to see if the loan was approved or not. Maybe if he got on the phone with them and came down a little more on the amount he asked, they will go ahead and approve it. I just read that stuff on prestige financial. Goodness!!!!! Reminds me of drive time. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to drive time.

Good luck with Capital One, I do think they are your best and safest option! Let me know how it goes.
